Did you have your baby at 37 weeks?

posted 30th Jul '12
FML.

So after 12 hours in L&D yesterday, steady contractions that were 2-4 mins apart the entire time and dilating from a finger tip to a 4.5 in 5.5 hours.. I went home.   I'm slightly frustrated that Mr. Jude cannot decide if he wants to come out or if he wants to keep on bakin'. I contracted on and off all night and have lost a MASSIVE amount of bloody mucus plug.. yuck.

I am now 36 weeks 6 days. If you had your baby around the 37 week mark, were there any complications? Were their lungs okay? If he does decide to come on out I just want to be prepared for anything that might happen.

At 8am I had stopped making any real progress and I was pretty uncomfortable being there. They gave me the option, honestly. I was so hungry (had been there since 1:30am) and tired that I just wanted to go home. They said I could stay but I didn't see a point. My doc didn't want to stop nor manually progress labor just in case baby isn't quite ready.

I'm definitely disappointed but I know it's probably best for him to keep on keepin' on for a while.

I have no personal experience with it, but a friend of mine had her daughter at 34 weeks & she was fine. She had to stay under the jaundice light for a day or 2, but even full term babies sometimes get jaundice.

my first was at 37.5 weeks, she was sluggish after birth.. hard to nurse and keep awake for the first week, had a bit of jaundice. I think she was more affected by the meds than anything though.

My son was born at 36 weeks 4 days. My water broke and there was no stopping it. He had a little bit of trouble regulating his temp at first but it was fine after and hour or two. He also had jaundice but it fixed itself after about a week and a half. Other than that, he was perfect. 7lbs and 5 oz. and 20 inches   My big boy. No trouble breathing or anything. We just had to stay and extra day though because he was born before 37 weeks and I was GBS positive.

Best of luck.

My son was born at 36 weeks and 6 days. No problems. They said he was grunting a bit so they were worried about his lungs at first but he ended up being fine.
