posted 30th Jul '12
I have a thyroid ultrasound today at 915a and im so nervous I feel like im going to have a panic attack and throw up. I've never had one before and terrified they will find something else out like i have cancer or something weird. And i cant help thinking that kind of stuff.. im not on anxiety meds anymore but she did write me a RX for one but just waiting to see if I need to take thyroid meds or not. UGHHHH sorry had to vent.

I had one before, ended up having a goiter, but it didn't affect my thyroid levels, so no medication was needed. I ended up getting it removed just because I could feel it. Now I only have half my thyroid and I still don't need any meds for it. Relax! Ir'll be fine!

I just had it done a little bit ago and she seemed to have focused more on my right thyroid area than the left.. im a little scared all I can think about is I will have cancer or something

goiters are common, and most likely non cancerous, but in the rare case it is, it is one of the most treatable cancers. Don't worry about it!!!   You can pm me if you ever have more questions too!

do you have thyroid problems?? I have like all the symptoms and had my labs done and i called and got my results but jst waiting on my dr to let me know what she thinks.. I had my ultrasound done today and the tech was asking me questions when i was done which made me nervous like if i had any trouble swallowing or if i had pain but she didnt tell me anything else except the radiologist will look at them and will have results in a couple days.

I don't have any thyroid problems now, and I'm not on medication. My thyroid levels were normal when they found the goiter too, so I just had a 3 cm goiter on my right half.

yeah, they just monitored it. I also had a biopsy of it to make sure it wasn't cancerous. They said they could continue to monitor it every 6 months or so, but I was sick of it, and could feel it, so I had the surgery.

I got my results back today and my thyroid is of normal size but in both lobes they found colloid cysts all of them under 3mm's so the nurse said I would probably just have them monitored every 6 months or so. My dr hasnt talked me about them yet but I dont know what else she would say that my nurse didnt.. she still hasnt mentioned my labs but the nurse said they wre " normal". UGH so frustrating lol
