If he was Jewish that would make sense but if he is Christian circumcision has no meaning as the sacrifice of Jesus changed that according to the religion. I don't believe in either religion and it seems probable that it was actually the Egytians who started circumcising and the Jewish people later picked up on it. In my opinion the only true way to be redeemed in the eyes of the lord is to have love for the self and others. Sacrifices are not necessary.

I think if Christians insist that they are circumcising as a sacrifice to God then they should also be burning their best crops and livestock in sacrifice.

I do not agree with circumcision. I feel like every person has the right to bodily autonomy and integrity. I do agree with abortion. A fetus does not have autonomy. It is completely dependent on its mother.

Seriously I don't understand why more people don't question that? A newborn can feel just as much pain...if not MORE sensitive than an adult man....you don't see men agreeing to just lidocain for the procedure as adults... honestly its one of the reasons I decided against being a nurse...I don't want to witness one at all....among other things that depress me in a hospital

The fact that he didn't cry at all/ fell asleep is more disturbing to me than crying...ugh   those poor little boys..It pisses me off that this is such a nonchalant option for Moms...its like that one YouTube video " Would you like some tea? When would you like your circumcision?"

But women shouldn't be made to feel like complete smurf for choosing what they felt was best for THEIR child....and who the smurf are you to tell them otherwise?

I plan to circ any future sons I have, and I shouldn't be beaten up over it.

If women spent as much energy helping one another as they do tearing each other down, we would be in a far better state.

Meh, I talk about my disdain for circ where appropriate. Which means in D&Ds about it, or when the subject is being debated. I'm not going to randomly give someone my opinion on it. Like my friend's son is circ. I don't say anything to her, and it never comes up. Same with spanking. Where appropriate, I debate it.

Same....I have friends who circ.....I wont say a damn thing....the first time pregnant ones I will only voice my full opinion if they ask....I had guy friends who were like 0_0 when I told them I wasn't circing...they asked me...so awkward explaining it to circ'd guys haha....I guarantee their grandparents were intact tho....it hasn't been this popular for that long....and its going down again  !

It's not a good choice. You shouldn't be beaten up over it, but you should know the truth. And you do, and you're like, "Well, I'm going to cut all my sons!" That's frustrating. Many mothers are keeping future sons intact because they know more now--but you apparently don't care what the truth is.

It's just the internet. But someday in your own life, in your own family, you'll have to answer for what you're choosing to do. As limitless information on this procedure is available, someday your boy(s) will know that this was done to him when he was helpless to choose, and they will know that you had enough information to understand why it should never be done.

I don't know if it has been said or not, but what I feel the strongest about in this situation-
When a woman gets pregnant she should be able to choose whatever she wants to with her body.
When you circumcise an infant, you are denying them the right to make their own choice for their own body.
I'm not saying either are wrong. I genuinely don't give a smurf what anyone decides to do with their body, just as long as THEY are the one to make that decision and it isn't made for them.

And ultimately one is okay and the other isn't because, you know, double standards. Society says one is okay and acceptable and the other becomes taboo. Unfortunately that's the way the world works now
