Delayed Cord Clamping

posted 29th Jul '12
Ok so I've done my research on it and I do think it's a good idea, but I have also heard stories where the person delivering the baby states that they do not do this, so they don't.
Is it something that you can request and the provider HAS to do it? or can they refuse to do it and there's nothing you can do about it?

Any input is very much appreciated.

Pretty cool facts, it's cool how then benefits of just waiting 2-3 minutes can help.

I told the dr I wanted to and they were fine with it. However, my sister wanted to so it also but the cord was around her LO's neck and she was a bit limp do they cut it immediately. As long as nothing is wrong they usually have no problem with it.

I don't understand why you wouldn't clamp it if you know all the benefits...it's an extra 2 minutes...which in that moment feels like 2 seconds!
