re: Low Amniotic Fluid...Please help!

posted 17th May
Here's the thing that I just kind of realized and it has me a little worried. I got my sonogram on the 5th of May. They didn't tell me anything was wrong until the 14th, which is 9 days it went untreated. Then I don't have an appointment to check FOR SURE if my fluid is low until the 19th. Could the situation have gotten worse over that period of time? Ever since I found out, I have been drinking over a gallon of water a day. Could that help too?

Keeping yourself hydrated can definately help. While I was worrying my ass off I was drinking water & gatorade like it was my job! If they were really realy concerned about your fluid they wouldn't make you wait so long...so thats a good thing-though I know how hard it is to sit around and not know

UPDATE:

Well ladies, today I went to another Doctor and got a more in depth sonogram. My fluid is CLEARLY not low (all 4 quadrants added to 11.2 cms at 23.6 weeks) and my son is 100% healthy and is growing beautifully! I appreciate you girls helping me and easing my mind through this whole process. Thank you very much!

LOL. I have NO idea. I wish I knew why. But i think it was just because I was dehydrated for a few weeks.

Hi, I'm at 32 weeks and have been going for weekly ultrasounds and visits for about the last month, I've had a few issues and am considered high risk. My little girl has been perfect at every visit until this morning when they told me that her fluid was low, so they did a NST which wasn't as reassuring as they would have liked, so I'm on strict bedrest and have to go back in 3 days for another ultrasound (which is called a biophysical profile) and appointment that will hopefully show everything to be a little better. I've been having a lot of problems with contractions ans have a blood clotting disorder so that's why they are keeping such a close eye on baby Brooklynn's placenta. I'm trying not to worry as the stress hormones won't help our babies at all! I keep reminding myself that God already know's her birthday and He know's everyhting about her and has her in her hands. Same for your baby! I'll keep you guys in my prayers!
I know with mine, I spent 3 hours at the office and they rescheduled all the tests for 3 days and put me on bedrest; if they didn't reschedule anything immediately then count that as reassuring! If they were really worried about your levels they would have had you come right back! Be sure to take it easy and crank down the water! She told me to keep my feet up and drink TONS of water, I have to have 12-16 large glasses/day!! If your urine is clear you're drinking enough!! The darker yellow your urine is the more dehydrated you are and the lower all of your fluid levels will be so aim at keeping your pee clear and that should help! Good Luck!!!

I too will keep you and your daughter in my prayers. Thank you so much for your help and consideration. I know Baby Brooklynn will turn out to be a happy, healthy little girl! =]
