VAGINA ISSUES-Does it Stretch?

posted 29th Jul '12
I have one child that I had naturally (12 years ago) and I'm about to have another! I was thinkin about having a Csection because I'm scared my vagina will stretch! It's nice and tight right now BUT I've only had one child! Will delivering a baby vaginally cause any stretching?

yes s it will stretch to have the baby and go back to normal just like it did the first time.

also that is a VERY DUMB reason to ask for a c-section

Your other child who was vaginally delivered didn't stretch it (to the point of making it "loose" afterward), so this one (likely) won't either. Don't opt for a major surgery because of that. Much more difficult recovery and most times, future babies will also be born via c-section. Vaginas were made to birth babies. Let 'em do their job.

Honestly, Unless you have some extreme tearing/scarring, Your Vagina should return to normal after baby, There is no real truth to women becoming 'loose' just because they give birth.

Of course! Opt for a major surgery in the name of your tight vagina. Nobody like a loosey goosey!

Seriously. Especially if you don't need a c-section. Most drs (I think) won't even give you a c-section just because you want one..

Rightly so! But there is an awful lot of c-sections being pressed on women nowadays, doctors telling them their babies are "too big." Bullsmurf. No way of knowing til they're out! Those physicians like making more money and having an orderly schedule though.

And even with extreme tearing, it can go back to normal! OP, no doctor (in their right mind) would let you get a csection for that reason. It's too big of a risk, and pretty serious surgery.

Vaginas are an amazing thing, they'll go back to what they were supposed to be.

Yes. This is very true. My vagina is pretty normal these days.

Thanks Guys for your advice! Most people say not to have a Csection because it's very painful and the recovery time is much longer!
Cassidy/Canaan- I don't think it's "VERY DUMB" at all! Everyone is different! I also wanted to get a Csection because I was in labor for almost 3 days and it was VERY painful!

I'm sure you'll be fine. Good luck.

I wouldn't call you dumb but, it's very foolish to opt for a major surgery. Routine, sure but, it's still a major surgery. I was in labor for 36 hours...It sucked. Labor is a part of child birth though, it comes with the territory. You'll be fine. Women were made to give birth.

A c section is more of a risk to you and your baby.... so asking for one to avoid damage to your vagina would be really irresponsible, and a doctor wouldn't do it for that reason regardless.

Vaginas stretch. That's what they are meant to do. I just had my third child and my vagina is no different than after my first. I don't remember what it was like before my first child- so I can't really compare it to THAT, but I can say that it feels tight enough and my husband and I haven't had any problems. Vaginas are like rubber bands. They stretch, and they shrink back.

That isn't a reason a doctor will give you a c section.... If you did not give birth THIS time in days and your baby was in distress they would, but not because last time was difficult. The pain is part of it. Long labor or not. I was in labor with my first for 9 hours and my third for 30! Let me tell you, the first was a lot more painful than the third regardless of time frame!
