Any legitamate SAHM jobs out there?

I'm currently working doing housekeeping for seniors and am only getting about 20 hours a week. I started school the beginning of Winter term 2012 and I'm taking a break until Spring 2013. I'm due this December and would like to stay at home with the baby. My husband works and is the "bread winner" in the family ATM.

Are there any promising work at home jobs that you've had experience with or others you know have had good experience with?

Unless you're already working with a company that allows working from home, you're pretty much screwed. Most SAH jobs I know of is selling avon, crafting and stuff like that. Besides, most legit employers DON'T want you watching your child while you're working, even if you are at home.

If you're talking about a real job that will be a legitimate supplemental income to your household, then your best bet to land those will be if you're certified in something like medical transcription or have some kind of degree in education (a lot of places are looking for virtual teacher or tutors) other than that, without a degree you're looking at customer service jobs that require you to have an office setting so that you're completely devoted to your job with NO interruptions, meaning it has to be like your child is not there at all.

There are other "jobs" you can do online but they will hardly count as income...I did surveys for this one company and got maybe $6 in a month (each survey $3) and I also do testing for this other company that pays $10 per test but you only get a test once in a while.

I've been searching and searching lately and the only things I've found that are in any way legitimate are things like Avon and Mary K. Bleck.

I used to answer questions online for KGB (I think that's it). Idk if they still are around, but they pay you per question and you just have to look smurf up online. I could be holding my baby and doing it. You don't make much though. Like I didn't make nowhere near minimum wage most of the time, but it is extra money.

Honestly, the only jobs I can think of would be selling catalog products or Etsy related items...

Otherwise, there is always doing in-home childcare... Nannying...

Get CPR and state certified, and then open a home daycare.
I used to run an in home daycare, and it was kind of tough with my own kids here, though. There are boundaries that the other kids can't cross that I had to make sure my own kids respected while they were here, and they didn't like that much. I considered putting my own kids in another daycare for a while before I decided to shut down.


Also, you can freelance house keeping. I was self employed as a house keeper for a couple years, and I cleaned rental homes that would take 10-15 hours total to clean, and I charged $10/hour when I first started, then started charging $12/hour. You figure, that's only 1-2 days of work, and then you move on to another rental home after that. I was averaging about 35 hours a week, just Mon-Fri. The home owner I worked for paid cash, so everything I earned went straight to me.

I do some freelance cleaning too. Advertising on Craigslist and charging 12 an hour. I've thought about selling on Etsy but don't even know where I'd start or what I'd make to sell. I have some sewing machine experience but it's very amateur.

I wish I could do daycare because I love kids but I'm in an apartment and I don't think most people would want their kids being watched in an apartment.

I guess if it were easy to find work from home jobs most moms would do it!
