The mysterious blood-clotting placenta

So, the cause of my son's IUGR remains unknown. My OBGYN is ordering tests for me so that we can get to the bottom of this, but he has already warned me that this autoimmune problem may go undetected....

I have already gone to the Cardiologist who made me wear a heart monitor for two weeks. I logged weird feelings and palpitations as they came and went, but nothing too crazy happened. A few weeks prior to this monitor, I had some arrythmias that I can only describe as feeling like my heart was literally, knocked off its course....

My Cardio did not, however, do a Lupus test...I would think that the echo and monitor would have picked up on Lupus...but anything is possible...


Has anyone had this happen to them?

The cord was wrapped around my son's neck twice and leg once, unbeknownst to the 8 million sonograms I had (scary, right?)..so there is one theory...this theory does not account for a prematurely, clotting placenta, however..

There are various causes for IUGR...which stands for intrauterine growth restriction...my son was born 4 3 at 37 weeks...

My placenta calcified, or started clotting early on...and this accounts for his low birth weight...the cord situation contributed as well but was not the sole cause...

I went to the cardio to get my heart checked but they did not do a blood test for lupus....what are your symptoms? I have rosacia so as soon as the heart Dr. saw my face, he thought lupus, but only gave me an Echo and a heart monitor...all of which came back perfect...could Lupus go undetected without the blood test? I mean I am very healthy and vivacious...tons of energy...I feel like I might know I have lupus lol

Gotcha! Now THERE'S a question I can answer for ya. Lupus HAS to be detected and confirmed with a blood test. I got diagnosed 5 years ago. My symptoms were

•joint pains • I'm EXTEEMELY photo sensitive. I am NOT allowed to be in the direct sun for long or I'll break out in a nasty rash, and it can effect my organs. •makes my pregnancy complicated.
I carry an antibody called the Anti Ro SSA/SSB (something else that HAS to be confirmed via blood test) and it makes my pregnancies very complicated. Ultrasounds every week till the baby is born, fetal echo a whole slue of smurf. Lol

But lupus has to be confirmed and detected via blood test it's the only way that will tell a dr. He needs to blood test your antibodies and all your DNA work up. Like 16 vials of blood (I have to get taken every month to check how my lupus is)

It's funny, my face looks like it has a rash right after I had my son...but the rosacia ointment is helping...a little...not a 100%..

When I was 20, the winter right after my dad died, the drastic change in temperature caused my entire face to break out not only in a rash, but i got hives too...soon after I started noticing some palpitations that were alarming...I had an EKG done that showed an abnormal reading: q waves...which come up after a heart attack...but any ekg taken thereafter was perfect so this makes no sense to me...As for the sun, I go running all the time and love the way I feel afterwards, so that doesn't make any sense...

My guess is I have Rosacia and palpitations when stressed or when I drink too much caffeine and these tests will show that whatever autoimmune issue I have, is undiagnosable (usage?).

Hmmm. It should be diagosable with blood test tho. Well lupus. I'm not sure about rosacia so very much well it can go undiagnosed
