PLEASE HELP! advice, support, answers!!!! Desperate!

posted 27th Jul '12
hi, i'm 18 and 5 weeks pregnant by my ex boyfriend, who isn't in picture at all & doesnt want to be not to mention he lives in a different state than me. Ive had one abortion before for my ex boyfriend and can honestly say i didnt feel much emotions, more of a state of denial. when i first found out i was pregnant i was 100% for keeping it, i dont prefer abortions but everyone has their own situations and i understand that. at first my biggest concerns with being a single mom were, no father figure in the picture, no extra help & not having what i grew up with which is both parents happily married for 30 years. i've always wanted tha, but now thats no longer a worry for me because i have my dad who can be a great father figure for my child. the onlyyy thing i'm beyond worried about is the financial part about raising a baby, i dont wanna be one of those girls who brings a baby into this world & realizes it REALLY is as hard as people say it is, and i'm the type of person who cant learn from a persons word, but my own experience.. and i feel like i would hate myself forever if i brought the baby in this world and lived in a horrible struggling life because i cant support it. I'm 18 and gonna be a senior in high school, currently unemployed & dont have my own car, but i know i cant work towards those things while i'm pregnant in time for the baby. the first time i was pregnant and chose abortion i was being so selfish and didnt think about any of these thingsa but only about myself, but this time i'm only thinking about whats best for potential baby. i just want to know if theres any kind of public aid assistance i can go on, other than WIC & child support to help me ?? anything at all, is very important for me to know before i make a decision i may regret. maybe advice from someone who's been in my shoes & is doing good now?? someone whos parents are rich, cuz i'm tired of only hearing about teenage girls who have babies with very well off parents who can help them sooo much, because i dont really have that. i just really want advice on what i should do. thanks!!!

Financial aid, food stamps, & some organizations locally could possibly help you too.

Why don't you want advice from teen mom's who's parents are rich and can help them when you said your dad is going to help you? sounds kindof like the same thing to me.

most places have tanf or parents to scholars I work for the state and the parents to scholars is a good program they give you money every month to help with expenses around 400 if single and unemployed, they help with gas/ daycare as long as you go to school can be for your hs diploma or college work. You could also look into the spire program.

he will be a great father figure but not so much a great financial supporter since my parents already have enough on their plates. its different for girls who have parents who are more "well off" you could say, like chelsea off of teen mom, she struggles but not as much as most teen mothers because her dad is/was her primary income.

any cash benefits program threw the state are only aloud for 60 months and that goes for every state and start around the 24th week you and your child can receive medical and food for your entire life if you wanted and they would never stop if you met income guidelines as far as wic they only go until a certain age which is usually sometime around 4 or 5

Honestly, yeah it is definitely as hard as people say it is. Like you really have to decide if you are ready to always put yourself second, and make your baby the focus of your entire universe. Are you willing to do whatever it takes to get some kind of post secondary education, even at the expense of being up all night with your baby, then going to school all day? Because the system is there to support people in their time of need but it shouldn't be considered a means of living.... its supposed to be as temporary as possible you know? Do you know what kind of courses you would want to take?

not true. If the father pays child support, its deducted off what you would get from welfare.

of course.. i'm willing to do all of that. i'm not the type to live off the system and not do something with myself.. it would just be great help at first with all the bills and stuff. courses? like college course?
