PCOS Awareness Poem

I don't know if my friend wrote this or found it but I really found it touching and wanted to share:

PCOS Awareness
"You are not alone with this"
"There are others just like you."
-That's not what my problem is,
I worry about the ones who don't have a clue.
The ones who are treated with just birth control
The ones that are told that BC should "Fix It"
I worry about the women unaware,
The doctors didn't tell them they were insulin resistant.
The doctors treat them as if they don't know or care,
They fail to mention the unwanted hair...
Or, the bald spots that will appear on your head,
They just tell you it's life, instead.
They didn't tell them their face would break out,
I found out the hard way, no doubt.
They didn't mention the excessive weight gain,
Or the unbearable abdominal pain.
Did they mention the sleep apnea at night?
Or, when you want to have a child - the fertility fight?
Did they mention the fact that your cycle will hardly come alone?
You'll have to take medication to bring it on.
Now, get in your car - and start up your engine,
For the ride that your doctor failed to mention!
Pick up some nair, tweezers, or razors on the way,
Because you'll be shaving your face, everyday!
Exercise right and slack off the sweets
Or the scale will read higher week after week!
Now that you know a little about PCOS, it's your duty, so try your best
To tell every woman that doesn't have a clue
That you, yourself have PCOS too!
Now make sure you spread the word,
And tell every woman something about PCOS they haven't heard!

It's so sad, and so true!

When I first started having problems they just put me on BCP. My hair started falling out and they said I was stressed. Then the acne came, and that was my eating habits, which was also the cause of the high BP, high triglycerides, and the weight gain. Then the facial hair, which was excused by some woman just have hair on their face. No periods, that was stress too.

All these years of problems, all classic symptoms, and yet they made me feel like a freak, and that it was all my fault.

I was wrongly diagnosed as diabetic. The only reason I conceived so quickly is because I had been put on metformin for the high blood sugar. My classic symptoms were ignored for years. My former doctor just assumed I was diabetic because she saw a fat girl with high blood sugars. She ignored me every time I asked about PCOS

Some drs are just as bad as murders. They don't see us as actual people just some way to get money. It's really sad. I was told I had a MC in November and they just told me it was our blood types that crossed because I'm B+ and hubby is A-. They didn't do a follow up to make sure I was ok, they just told me to go home after a seven and a half our wait in the ER room and another four before a dr. ever saw me. I learned that I was pregnant again in January and when i got a ultrasound it said I was 16.5 weeks. Which would be imposable had I truly had a mc. I was going through life smoking and drinking because of the depression and hurting my baby because a dr didn’t do a follow up and they would have learned I didn’t have a mc. It just pisses me off how careless they were.

omg that's terrible! How can they excuse that?!?!

They have'nt even tryed to say sorry they just are pretending like I had a MC and that this is a new baby.
