questioning doctor's advice

Lo just had her 6 month check-up today (she's 7 months tomorrow though due to scheduling issues). Well, the doctor asked if she's had solids. I said yes, I let her try a new food once a week and she eats about half a container every day or 2 and she said "Oh no, she needs half the breastmilk and more baby food. There's not enough vitamins and iron in your bm." This set off my mommy senses and this doesn't sound right to me. She prefers to nurse. If she doesn't get solids she doesn't care. She loves what she gets, but if she doesn't she's like oh well. She's never been sick, will be crawling SOON, can stand if she can hold onto something for balance, sleeps through the night, and just generally shows no sign of any kind of problems. What have your pedi's recommended?

Hell my daughter lived off BM alone until she was 18 months old lol.

That's what I've always been told. Solids aren't necessary until a year, that's eating now is just practice really. That's why I don't give her much. The doctor said that though so I just nodded and figured I would get more opinions later.

If you’re worried about lack of vitamins I know they have baby vitamin supplement drops for breast feeding women and there is nothing wrong with starting solids at this age I know everyone has their preference but you can start this early and it won’t do anything to them.

it's not about starting them that early. 6mo IS the recommend age. the fact is her dr. is telling her that her baby needs more food than BM, which is bullsmurf.

You got to question some dr's logic at times like. I think your doing fine and just take her words with a pinch of salt ESP if your child is gaining weight and is perfectly fine xxx
