Idk what to do anymore...

posted 27th Jul '12
Dd is 3 1/2 and doesn't listen for smurf!!! She never sleeps(she is still wide awake right now at 1 am) she beats up her little sister, she bets up on me, she screams bloody murder for no reason, she will look us in the face as we ask her to do something and then just walk away. I am so fed up!!! I hate feeling like I don't want to be around my own baby girl! This sucks!

Help!!!!

Whats your method of discipline? do you use it often or is she just going through a random violent phase?

I do spank when it's extreme behavior(biting, hiring kicking you know the dangerous stuff). But for the most part I take her out of the situation and talk to her and explain its unacceptable and she needs to take a break. Time outs work sometimes but she will just scream so hard she pukes.

She used to take naps but won't anymore so she just has quiet time where she reads or plays dolls but she will still be up till the ass crack of dawn and then Lo I up at 8 and I have had no sleep. I can't sleep at naptime cause dd doesn't sleep or even stay quiet for that matter. Dh works nights and sleeps most of the day(cause of work) I just found out I am pregnant and I am soooo tired and emotional. I was bawling my eyes out while trying to get her to sleep cause I feel like a failure and probably shouldn't even have another baby if I can't even get dd to sleep. :-(

I feel the same way and my daughter is 2.5. We try redirection, we try time outs. NOTHING works.

My son is 3, almost 3.5 and he is really similar. He doesn;t beat up on the others, but he is very defiant. Is SO asks him to do something, even as simple as "Go take your toys to your room" he just melts down crying for no reason and it drives me crazy.

He also just does not listen. If we're having an important conversation or I'm on the phone (usually with my boss, I don't really talk to people on the phone) and I ask him to please be quiet and to not talk while I'm on the phone / speaking to daddy - he just simply will not do it and if you ask him twice, he melts down and starts crying and screaming.

NO idea what to do with him. We've done time-outs, we send him to sit on his bed, we even spank (not against spanking to an extent) and NOTHING works.

What do you mean?

I recently took her curtains out and at night I tell her when the sun wakes up it's time to play but when it sleeps we have to sleep. She still won't sleep!

My sister was just like this as a baby(I am 7 years older) and she was diagnosed with ADHD/ add, and odd(not sure if it's still called that lol). I see so many traits of my sister in dd(twitching in her sleep, constantly on the move and never sitting still and easily frustrated). I had to lay with dd and like bear hug her just to get her to calm down and she screamed it broke my heart :-(

Awh   & what I did was when he wanted to do something or for me to read to him he had to take a nap & then he was rewarded for doing well and being a good boy & we would also go outside and play a bit so he could run off energy before or after. Also we'd sit & watch movies & shows he liked alot when I could tell he was tired and needed a nap & those would put him to sleep

Do you have a reward system? with my lot i used wall charts and stickers when they were younger, and now they are older (12,10,7,6) i use marbles in a jar for each child, And they have to earn so many by the end of the week to decide what kind of prize they get. If you don't already have a reward system going, Maybe start one? And use that in conjuction with the time outs, Take stickes/marbles away for bad behavior, And time outs for worse behaviour.
