Getting induced.

posted 26th Jul '12
So - they updated my delivery date to 4th August because of how big he is growing! My original date however was 27th August. My LO is measuring at 38w6d now and is 7.9 pounds. They are sending me for another ultrasound in 2 weeks to see if he is still growing so far ahead (23 days so far!) and I'd he is they are looking at inducing me. Has anyone else had this happen or know how I can try and start it myself so I don't have to go through being induced?

Also- today I had increased pain in my pelvis, sharp pains to my cervix, diarrhea (TMI), my back cracked so hard when I got up this morning and I'm more exhausted then usual. I went to the doctors and she was heaps rude and barely looked me over before going "it's all normal" and dismissing me.

Id refuse to be induced.
I was told while in labor that my daughter was 8-9 lbs by ultrasound...she was 6.4 at 39 weeks 2 days.

Are they only inducing you because your baby might be big? I was actually told LO would be small. They didn't expect him to be over 7lbs. Turns out, U/S can be off by 2lbs either way and he was 8lbs 7oz.

But yes, the other stuff you listed is totally normal for later pregnancy. And boy do they suck. Try a nice warm bath and relaxing. It helped my back a lot.

A mixture of that and he has mild kidney problems as well. I'm so confused about this all.

Was your due date pretty accurate during early pregnancy? Like, I was told by my U/S at 20 weeks that I was measuring at 17 or 18 weeks. I knew the only time I was able to conceived and they went with that since it was more accurate than an U/S later. But what did your doctor say about your LO's kidneys? Did you see a specialist and everything? Honestly, I'd get a second opinion on everything to be sure.

im not sure you should get induced....my due date is aug 4th and my baby was said to be weighing at 8 and half lbs and about 20 inches long...but i dont really believe she is that big i was 97 lbs before getting prego now i am 134 and they told me i could go over by two weeks....so i guess our bodies will be able to withstand that process i guess...good luck!

Yeah I've had second and third opinions on things  . He has bilateral pyeloectasia in his left kidney. His dates have been off. Every scan is different. First said 27th, second said 19th, third said 10th and now it's at the 4th =\

I'd say go with what the doctors say but it'd also worry me about the jump in due dates. The first U/S is usually the most accurate. But with the problems your LO could be having I'm sure the doctors would be making sure that everything they're doing is to keep him safe.
