Dental issue? Help, please!

posted 26th Jul '12
So pregnancy seems to smurfing ruin my mouth. With my son, I had three cavities while pregnant and I hadn't had any before nor have I had any since. About an hour ago I noticed that the gum seemed, I don't know, inflamed I guess, where my lower left wisdom tooth used to be. I pressed on it after brushing my teeth put it didn't pus or anything like that; there was blood but that's normal for me right now and I don't even know if that's where it came from.
I brush and use mouthwash and everything every day but my gums still bleed while I'm pregnant. Is this another problem caused by pregnancy and is it dentist worthy? It takes like a month to get a dental appointment and I hate bothering with it unless I have to.
I just don't know what to do about my damned teeth.

You might be one of those that have to use a super soft tooth brush. I went to the dentist pregnant. Got to stay on top of the grill before it all falls out! lol

My gums bleed 10x more now that I am pregnant. I actually have to see a specialist for my teeth because they always bleed---had this problem for a long time. I would wake up in the morning sometimes and spit blood out before I would even brush my teeth (I know gross).

I would suggest seeing a dentist (Not saying you have the same problem as me) but it's better to get them checked out.

I'm an RDA and sometimes having children, or being pregnant can change the dynamics of our mouths.

When you are pregnant your gums can be very inflammed and more sensitive.

I wouldn't worry.

I don't have medicaid. I wish I did, though, since they'd probably cover a lot more than mine. Mine covers appointments but only one dentist in the area takes it and they just take forever to see.

I plan on seeing one for sure but I wasn't sure if this is a problem that needs attention sooner rather than later. I'm afraid I'm pretty uneducated when it comes to dental stuff because I've always been pretty lucky (excluding pregnancy related stuff). I don't know what's a serious problem and what isn't.

Thanks! It's a little irritating but I imagine that's more because I kept poking it with my tongue once I noticed it. The worst part about being pregnant for me is the damage it's done to my mouth.
