large lump

About a year aso, I noticed a small pea sized lump under my right armpit. Since my Grandpa died of a rare form of cancer (leiomopsarcoma) I had it checked out right away. My family doctor did blood tests and everything was ok so he sent me to a surgeon. The surgeon did an ultrasound and it showed nothing. He pretty much told me I was crazy and sent me on my way. Fast forward to now... I had my baby on July 20th (it was a beautiful baby girl). My milk started to come in on Monday night. (I am not breastfeeding.) Tuesday when I took a shower I noticed that my pea sized lump has turned into almost golf ball size and it hurts too.
Has anyone else had this problem and what did it end up being? I asked the nurse at the hospital about it and she talked to someone about it and they thought maybe it was linked to my milk somehow but told me that if I didn't notice any change by this coming Monday I should contact my OB.
The lump is right in the armpit area not on the side of the breast.

You have lymph nodes in your arm pit. I'd get it checked out, http://www.thelymphnodes.com/underarm-lymph-nodes.php

Probably a clogged duct. Your breast extends into your armpit. After I had my daughter I had the same thing and it eventually moved down and then went away. I did breastfeed though. I'm sure that's what it is...especially since you aren't nursing you'll start getting engorged.

A few years ago I had something like that. Just a little knot that would come and go. I had it checked out and it was a non-cancerous cyst. I had a small out-patient surgery where I just went it they cut it out then I went home. It was more of the size of a gumball though.
