3 hour glucose test - a second time (in one pregnancy)

So, at my last doctor's appointment I was told by my doctor that she wants me to take the 3 hour glucose test again because two of my last three urine tests still had too high sugar levels. Has anyone else had to re-do their 3 hour glucose test and if so, did you guys come back negative a second time? I'm really freaking out that I will have to start the strict diet, but I guess the plus side is that at this point it is for a shorter time, a little over 5 weeks, until he is born.
*Edit: Urine test meaning when you pee at your doctor's office each week. They check multiple things in your urine, and your blood sugar level is one of them.*

I just got a call back from my doctor saying he wasn't happy with the results back from my 3 hour test, apparently I scored a 97 when it should of been 95 or below... I have to go back on Monday and just fast this time.

Urine test? I just got my glucose test on Saturday and it was all blood tests!! Whats up with that?? Was I supposed to piss in a cup?

I fasted last time before it and my results came back fine, but that was April 1st. So now I'm doing it again, ugh! he he. Good luck on Monday.

Urine at your doctor's appointments each week. They test the blood sugar levels in it.

oh okay then why do they have to do the 1 hr and or 3 hr glucose testblood test ( i hate needles so much)

You only need the 3 hour if your 1 hour comes back too high. My recommendation if you haven't done it yet, lay off on any unnecessary sugar for 3 days before the test and when you go to your doctors appointments. That was my mistake, I was enjoying too much chocolate, ha ha. So my sugar levels were too high.

yeah I tried to stay away from sugars wel a lot of it tuesday and wednesday i had my glucose yesterday how long does it usually take to come back

2 or 3 days, depending on the place you went to. Sometimes next day. I think the 3 hours are almost always next day. 1 hour usually 2 or 3 days though. I just got back from doing my 2nd 3 hour test. That sucked. I hope it comes back okay. 34 week appointment is shortly. I hope that turns out okay too.

I was looking for someone else who had this. Now I found it. O.K., my doctor said I failed the gluclose test too. I will do my 3 hour test on Monday and I will find out the results on Wednesday to tell me whether I have gestational diabetes. Ughh!! I have a good feeling I will fail it -- cause' if I failed the first test, what makes them think if they double the sugar and do it for 3 hours things will change! I'm not hopeful!! I understand if you do have this, your baby can become huge making a c-section something we must consider. Ouch!!! Not very pleasant I don't think but what can we do about it?! My friend said she had the same thing and gave birth to a 12 pound turkey NATURALLY!!! OMG!!

They end up being take earlier for that reason. And there are complications to be expected. Unfortunately, for my co-worker, the result of her having the diabetes was the worst you could ever imagine. The baby got so big (she was over 10 pounds) that the day of her scheduled c-section, two hours before the c-section time, she had no room left and strangled on her cord. Very sad. Next month is the 1 year anniversary of that day. Gestational diabetes really is quite scarey!
