Helping Dilation

This is my 2nd child and as with my first she is being stubborn. With this child I have had serious contractions for weeks. Even the medicines they give you to stop them doesnt work. They induced my first and after 15 1/2 hours of being dilated only half a centimeter I finally dilated. Well now my drs are wanting me to try and dilate myself some so that when I do go into labor it wont be as hard and I wont have to have a csection. Any suggestions are welcomed

Have you tried evening primrose oil? Its supposed to soften your cervix so when you go in to labor its easier for your cervix to dialate.

What did your drs suggest doing?

If your doctors actually said that, RUN

There is no way to "dilate yourself"

I mean, there is walking, and they say squatting can help.

If they wanted you to do this, surely they would have told you HOW

  Yeah, that's a little strange. Didn't they give you suggestions?

Your doctor wants you to do this a month before your due date? If THEY suggested it then why didn't THEY give you options on how to go about doing it?

exactly my thoughts...

They told me to try having sex and walking but said there were other ideas out there even though they havent been proven. So I was wondering anyone else had tried anything to "ripen" the cervix as they called it. However, I've done the sex and walking and nothing seems to dilate me. My baby is measuring 2 weeks ahead and is above average so they're thinking my due date is miscalculated and said that if I keep having contractions as hard as I am that I would have to have a csection soon to prevent the placenta from detaching itself from the uterine wall. They want to induce me but most likely that would lead to a csection and I would prefer to have this baby naturally.

I would get a second opinion. What was your EDD based off of? Your LMP or an ultrasound?

Nothing will happen until your body is ready, anyway, I would look for an underlaying cause for your contractions.
