Its happened to me. I would just be totally crushed and stay away for a long while.. if he wanted to break up he'd do it, but I wouldn't say anything.. just kinda bring it up and.. thats it.. me not saying anything drove him crazy. if he asked me questions I'd just say I don't know and just.. either hang up or go away and say to plz leave me alone right now..

After some time though he did slowly stop talking to other girls.. but.. well, I know that not everyone has a good ending.. and sometimes maybe it is better to end it.. we just have a lot of history..
