I personally do not see a point in registering before you find out the sex. Unless you want to go gender neutral, or you plan on keeping the sex a surprise.

Im trying to get that threw people's heads. I want to find out the sex, so I want to wait to register.
DH and I have already browsed around and have ideas for DD or DS. So it will be easy for us to do our registry.

Honestly I would tell MIL that you do not want to do it because in 14 weeks all the companies you register for are going to put out items for the new season. That you want to wait and see what comes out come winter. Or just tell her to shut the hell up and leave you alone..whichever ;) I understand where you are coming from though. Everyone tried to tell me when and how to do everything and it got so nerve wracking that I ended up freaking out on everyone and crying because I was so sick of it.

MIL tries to control EVERYTHING! She controlled our wedding, honeymoon, house hunting. I refuse to let her control anything to do with this baby! She's already bitching about us wanting to find out the sex of it. Sorry, but I want to decorate the nursery in other colors then yellow or green. We need everything for this baby (I got rid of all DD's stuff). There's only so much yellow I can handle!

Yeah, my friends and in-laws are having a hard time with us deciding to wait till birth to find out the gender. We had already decided that the baby shower would be after birth, so the little one can attend and meet everyone! In the meantime, my MIL has been helpful in finding a used bassinet and the brand of cloth diapers I wanted (we're encouraging second hand items for the baby, since they rarely wear anything out, and neither we nor our friends can afford new stuff). She was happy to have SOMETHING to do!

I did the same thing with DS. I donated everything because I did not plan on getting pregnant for a few years. Ya that didnt happen. I was opposite of you and wanted to keep the sex a surprise. Everyone no joke made fun of me. They told me I was ridiculous and just want to be difficult. It seriously hurt my feelings. DH and I were going to have a meet the baby party instead of a baby shower, and everyone was just terrible about it. that it ruined the joy of keeping it a secret. So i found out.

I changed my mind on finding the sex out on not only my first pregnancy, but also this one. Do not let anyone change your mind. Stick to your guns!!!

Aw
That's actually a good idea. Meet the baby party instead of a shower. Hmm, maybe we will find out the sex but we won't let anyone know until he/she is born.

Thanks 'Adam's Mommy'! Fortunately, my hubby is in total agreement and very supportive.
