Bleeding and birth control

I have no idea what my body is doing right now. I had my PP bleeding for 5 weeks and then I stopped bleeding for a few days and started up again. I went to my 6week PP check up and got put on birth control and I was told this would regulate my periods again. A couple days after i started the pill I quit bleeding and bam a couple days later I'm bleeding again. Well a few days ago I stopped again and started bleeding today:/ I have no idea when I will start and stop. Is this normal? Or should I make an appointment. This is my first baby so I'm not sure whats normal.
