As long as the baby is gaining weight and not losing formula isn't really necessary. Some babies just gain at a slower rate then others. Giving formula before the breast will ruin a woman's supply and often make a baby reject the breast. If supplementing is something that has to be done it's always recommended to nurse from the breast for as long as you can and then supplement with a little bit of formula and even that can interfere with supply.

And not all woamn are the same. Half half yeah itll fuxk yiir supply up but ONE oz! No. My sister has had to suppliment her preemies for the SANE reason and her milk supply is AWESOME. that also whith punoing. Which pumping does mess up A LOT of other womans supplys. But not all woman are the same

Pumping increases supply. Extra stimulation and demand lead to an increase in supply. Supplementing with formula can lead to a decrease in supply for the same reason but in reverse. When there is less demand because the baby is getting supplemented your body doesn't produce as much milk. Supplementing early on can also cause the baby to prefer a bottle because it's easier and faster then nursing.

You said that formula adds calories so they don't burn it all, babies don't smurfing burn ALL the calories they take in by crying. That would mean all babies look skeletal. Breastmilk is VERY high in calories which helps them build up a fat store. Formula has more calories but they're calories gained from crap. What's better, 1000 calories from a nice juicy steak, some wholegrain rice and vegetables, or a big mac? Big macs make you fat, the full meal is better for you and won't make you gain a smurf ton of weight you can't burn off. Formula is the big mac.

Just because YOU would shove formula down a newborns throat doesn't mean it's a good idea, nor a good idea to give that opinion to others.
