Rap

So im not a fan of it myself so I suppose maybe that gives me a bias but some of it I just do not understand why it is so popular. I have no problem with influential rap or ballads. I'm also not saying all rap is doomed. My issue is the rap that is popular from artist referring to all women as 'bitches' or 'hos' or making violence look to be a common problem solver. Yes I know there are traces of this in all forms of music but I don't think it has become as widely popular and evident in other forms of music. Now I have no problem with the girls in there barely their outfits shaking for the camera- thats thier choice. I don't even have a problem with exactly what is being said. I just do not understand why this is so popular???

LOL..I like rap and hip hop but some of the stuff thats out there is just so lame.

Some of it is thought provoking and catchy.. I'm a fan but I def don't listen to everything.. I'm more of a "mainstream" rap fan.. He's a douche IRL but I really like Kanye West and Akon.. Some of the crap that Kanye spits really makes me think he's some sort of genius.. For instance..

"When it feels like livin's harder than dyin', for me givin' ups way harder than trying"

Or

"So if the Devil Wears Prada, Adam Eve wear nada, I'm somewhere in the middle only I do it fresher.."

And Akon with his "blame" song and "Mr. Lonely" - pretty darn catchy..

I think rap today absolutely sucks...like that so called "rap" Soldier Boy or whatever, so incredibly gay. Even I could think of a better song than that and make millions too. All the good rap like 2Pac and Biggie is where its at IMO. Sad that theres not much even close to that these days.

Yeah I feel the same....some of his lyrics make sense but I don't think he's incredibly gifted and is over exaggerated.

It all depends on who you are listening too, there are different sects of rap kinda like religion but of course not really (just differnt types). See I like Lupe Fiasco, Jezzy, and Rick Ross listen to them and they actually have something to say. Of course if you listen to the radio you are going to here commerical rap which is like "soldier boy" (althought I love "get silly" ) So it all depends on who and what your listening too

Yeah, rap is pretty stupid, i have to agree. I hate how they promote drugs and shit, like it makes them cool. Rap about something real (which some rap artists do) but almost all of them don't, not anymore anyways. It's not about life experience, it's about being a "baller" and doing drugs and acting more hardcore than the next noobie rapper on the scene. geeeeeigh.

I hate listening to crap that glorifies gangs and banging. No glory in banging and I am sick of seeing suburban wannabes smoking their cigs throwing up gang signs (useually wrong) of a group of people that really are discusting.

Sometimes I just want to take a machete with me when I walk to the general dollar store near my house and chop off one of those retard's hands for throwing a sign of something they arent affliated with. But EWWW I dont want to go to jail.

Well.. like Missy E and Timbaland.. They're musical genius' in my book.. And Missy is both lyrically and artistically appealing which is probably why she's popular as hell..

also.. talking about your experince is one thing *violence wise* but saying your going to shoot this or that person.. do you not learn from your experiences with violence? I understand it is hard growing up with little to no money.. but would you not want to improve your community and promote peace amoungst your people? Why add to the chaos by making death threats and degrading women.. i just don't get it

What are you listening to? Cause I know when I turn on the radio I don't really hear stuff like that too much anymore. Just want to get a feel for where your getting you information from that makes you feel this way. Cause most of that is played out
