i see where you're coming from on that. i'd be worried too. but i wouldn't consider myself or someone else to be selfish for having the baby, as long as she did the right things to try to prevent the spread of it to the baby. if it happened regardless, then.... idk. but i'm just saying that because i forgot to actually answer your original question. lol.

I couldn't do it. My ex fil has hiv. He's had it since the early 90's and after seeing what it's done to him and what it's continuing to do to him even with all the meds he's on I couldn't possibly chance spreading that to my child if I had it. That would ruin their life

My mother contracted AIDS from a previous boyfriend who was sharing needles, apparently. It destroyed my mother...She deteriorated a little more each day, it was awful and he outlived my mother.

It destroys your immune system and for him specifically has caused liver and kidney failure as the most recent of his problems.

Oh my. That's why I don't think I could risk it. I could never forgive myself if I gave something like that to one of my babies.

Nowadays, with medication, its less than 1 percent of passing it to your child. I know cause.im positive and my daughter isnt. You just need to take medications and when the baby is born, its a 6 week course for them

I'm also positive and pregnant. I found out when I had my initaial test in the beginning of pregnancy. I take one pill a day and get ultrasounds once a month just to make sure hes growing correctly. Its really hard for a mother to pass it to the child if she is on meds. I am currently undetectable and am in perfect health. I can have a c-section or have a regular birth. You can live a normal life with hiv, its not what people make it seem to be.
