My friend had MC

I'm asking for my friend, she had spotting the other day and went to ER they didn't find heartbeat and she had follow up blood as well as another u/s yeasterday and they confirmed baby stop growing. And schedule her our D&C but she started bleeding heavy today. She called back the doc to tell them and they say she still need to do the D & C even if she is passing it naturally. I thought it was one or the other but if she didn't pass it all then they do D &C? She's confused as to y they still need to do the procedure when she starting to bleed on her own?

there shouldnt be a reason for her to have to get one.

That's what I thought but thru saying she has to even if she bleeding heavily now.

The same thing happened with my friend the other day, actually. She was supposed to be 10 weeks but baby stopped growing at 6 weeks & they didn't know. She started passing naturally, called & they had her come in for an emergency D&C. They said that they had to be sure that everything came out of her system. I know if you're in the 4-5 week range they normally don't insist on a D&C at all but after that, they "prefer" it.

I've had 6 miscarriages and ZERO D&C's.

Its totally unnecessary unless she's in extreme pain, hemorrhaging, or if she has a fever.
