I ate a whole pineapple and thats the only thing that made my uterus contract or even tingle at all....lol...I was not doing it to solely induce labor but rather to help it along.
It's also why I said and do a crap load of walking.
I can give you a million successful castor oil stories(not exactly a million), but I have been a member of this site long enough to know when to leave well enough alone. It was a personal choice and this may very well be hers as well. I posted about my castor oil story and no one said a thing, I was actually quite surprised at the reaction.

I just think some members run with the majority, to deny that as truth would be too colossal of a lie.

FYI, yes, castor oil CAN help you contract some. But it contracts the BOWELS mainly, and the bowel contractions set off uterine contractions. It can cause the baby to pass meconium, risking lung infections and potential death. It WILL more than likely leave the mother smurffing her brains out.

All in all, patience is the best way to start labor. Baby comes when baby is ready, what's so difficult for people to understand? When you agree to carry out a pregnancy, you agree to wait until baby wants to come out, and take the symptoms as they come. You are free to gripe and bitch about it all you want, but actually doing something to try and make baby come before he or she is ready? It's selfish.

Hun, I understand clearly what Castor Oil does. But I firmly believe that the only reason anyone negates castor oil is because it is not medically backed as safe. My doc (whom a may defend as not being a quack before making this statement) had no issues with me doing so. She informed me of the risks all of which I was already aware and sent me on my way, unfortunately for me nothing happened.

So many women opt for PITOCIN and that has a crap load more side effects than Castor Oil does, why do you think this is?

Because doctors are not always right, that's why. Just like the fact that there's too many C-Sections going on right now that are not needed. Pitocin is used to empty beds in the maternity wards faster, because an empty bed filled is more money. And the birthing is what costs the most, so they want as many new patients in as possible.

Pitocin makes contractions 100 times worse. I don't like Pitocin either. I don't believe in medical intervention unless FULLY necessary. I agree with NON-MEDICAL intervention less. I don't care about pineapple, sex, etc... none of those will work unless your body is ready to deliver and baby is ready to come out.

Castor oil CAN make you go into labor early, but many times it just gives you the runs. Also, the risk of meconium far outweighs the possible benefit of getting to hold your baby a little early.

To each their own, but OP getting all pissy because she was told the truth, that she was going to have the smurfs, and that her kid was at risk for meconium inhalation, was stupid. She asked, she got the truth. If she wants someone to blow rainbows up her butt, or up the butts of anyone wanting to risk their kids, the Bump is pretty good for that from what I hear.

^^ My sentiments exactly, I agree with you whole heartedly on this aspect. But I drew that parallel because you don't see people going Bazonkas when Pitocin is mentioned. But Castor Oil receives the Backlash that should be afforded to that drug as well.

My daughter was 2+ weeks over due and thats her passing the last of the three due dates given. On the screen you could see large deposits of calcium where the sac began to ossify. Which was far more dangerous than having her out AT THAT POINT. Babies don't always come when they are ready. I read this misconception all the time. I come from a family of holistic believers and for the ones who deliver babes for a living they never have that issue(the big poopy mess I mean). Being ill informed is one thing, but bashing someone for being ill informed is just as bad an offense. I've seen every castor oil post turn over to TDC except mine..
