My Brain Surgery is Tomorrow

I had my pre op appt this morning to go over all the last minute details for my surgery to remove my brain tumor.

The incision will be about 2-3 inches long and they will have to shave part of my head, but only a small part of it. Just enough to look weird and have people stare at me.

I'll be in the hospital for 3-4 days; 2 of them will be in the ICU. This will be the first time I will get a full night's sleep in 4 years. No joke.

I'll have to have a bladder catheter, an arterial line and a csf drain and I'm pretty sure I'll be wired for cable while they are at it. Maybe they will throw in 6 months of showtime for free?

They have to shave part of my head   I worked really hard to grow my hair out! No I didn't, it pretty much does it on its own.

I *might* have to have titanium mesh to replace part of my skull if the tumor has invaded it, which makes me more like the terminator than you are.

I laughed through my whole doctor's appointment today, which was weird for everyone involved. But that's how I deal.

I'm going to be pissed if they have extra parts left over after my surgery, like an end table from IKEA. They better all fit back the way they were supposed to be.

No, but for real, I'm freaking out a little.

ive had 3 head sugeries to remove tumors, one was growing through my skull into my brain...so i kinda know the feeling

Thanks everybody. It's so surreal, like it's not really happening most of the time, but then sometimes, it hits me really hard - but just for a minute. then i'm back in denial
