7 month old waking up 4-5 times a night

posted 25th Jul '12
I have a 7 month old who doesn't nap much during the day, and wakes up about every three hours at night. He usually wants a bottle or to be rocked asleep again. Is this normal?? any sugguestions for us both to get more sleep? this waking up multiple times just started about a month ago so it may have something to do with teething...?? Atleast he doesnt get fussy but he just wants to GO GO GO, and i love it, but i miss a full night rest.

My 11 month old still wakes up multiple times to eat. It's normal. Teething makes it worse.

At seven months a night(or several) feeding(s) isn't needed, they should be to substain themselves through the night.
Maybe a growth spurt...
I know my LO(7 months)doesn't sleep well when she is going through one or is in the process of learning a new milestone.

My son started it at 8 montgs and hes 20 1/2 months and still does it. Goodlu,k, I wish I knew he doesnt wake up to eat he jyst wants his sippy cup or binky. Its so tiring! He also has nigjt terrors so poor baby cries.a few times a night bc of that.

That's not true. If a baby wakes up to eat, it's hungry. Therefore, it's needed.

You shouldn't wean him off his feedings. If he is waking up and eating, he needs that. It's just something to deal with. Hard I know.

Just because a baby wakes up in the middle of the night doesn't mean he/she is hungry. It is true that starting at 6 months, most babies don't require a night feeding, most not all. He/she could be waking up to eat just so he/she feels comforted not neccesarily because they're hungry. A crying baby doesn't always equal up to be a hungry baby!

I never said to rip the boob/bottle out of his mouth...
What about trying other things first before offering a feeding, my LO will always eat when presented with a bottle, hungry or not, she likes the suckling(for comfort). At that age you can try to offer them a pacie or maybe just a quick cuddle...
But whatever, we're clearly not going to agree on this topic...
I was giving the OP my opinion, the one that actually asked for it.
You seem to have it all figured out so move along now.
