Water birth w/ my own pool?

posted 24th Jul '12
So I'm expecting my first child and I have decided that I would like to do this naturally. My Mother, Grandmother, and Great-Grandmother all had their children naturally, this also includes NO epidural. Only problem is.. I want to do a water birth but, my hospital doesn't have one so have any women bought their own inflatable pool and blew it up in the hospital? Is it possible to do it or can you?. The reason why I'm having my baby in the hospital is because my uterus and cervix are both tilted. My Gyno/OB said it all depends if I would need a c-section right when I'm giving birth, she would only know at the time.

Most hospitals probably won't allow it due to liability issues. You should speak to the hospital you will birth at not just your doctor.

Eh, if it's your first baby and you're in good health, I would look into home birth if natural birth is something you want. I mean some hospitals might honor your wishes but to be frank, most hospitals don't give a crap what you want. They just want money.

It just makes me nervous to think about a natural birth but, where they are plugging me to IV's and scans, telling me when to push, asking if I want a epidural if I clearly said no, always seeing how dilated I am, and firmly telling me what to do... it doesn't seem natural at all to me. I want a bit of control and real relaxation to experience this birth the way I want too especially since it is my first child.

Personally, I prefer natural birth. My first was all-natural in a birthing center. Second was in a hospital, the experience was horrendous, induced with pitocin.

This time I'm opting for home birth. I am not afraid of labor.

I would suggest looking for a free-standing birth center or a home birth. The chances of you having a natural birth in a hospital are slim to none. Sorry to be blunt, but that's just how it is.

See, Dara and that's how I feel where it really is about the money and not my comfort as a first time Mother. Ugh... this makes me sad, it really does because I just want the best but, knowing how this world is turning it seems everything is in control expect you in your own life and if you do get it that way... there's restrictions.
