re: she's dying :(

we had a family meeting today with the hospice nurse.

she's basically drowning from all of the fluids being aspirated. her being in the fetal position constantly has caused more pressure on her torso and organs. her kidneys are starting to shut down. the nurse was explaining her breathing, that usually it sounds ok but this morning it sounded like a crinkling plastic bag in there. she said thats not good. she recommended removing the tube and there will be a hospice nurse with her 24/7 until she passes. they will keep her comfortable, meaning pump her full of morphine. she has enough nutrients for a few days and once those are gone, its a guessing game.

so, she's on her last week. :*(

im so sorry. I hope you can find peace with this, as well as your family. Stretching her life now would not do any good...although it seems death is a worse thing for the family members to face.
I hope she is comfortable now.

i dont want her suffering. the nurse said nobody knows if she is or not. she wont talk to anybody, but she moans if you get talking to her(she moaned when i said ILY!   ) but i pulled my aunt aside(the POA) and told her its not fair that she suffers any more, she agreed then was talking to my mom and their sister and brother. they decided to pull the feeding tube together. its just a waiting game now. could be a few days, could be up to 2 weeks

well im glad about their decision...very sad, but glad...
watching someone in pain like that, someone you love so much....it has to be so hard to know whats right.
for your mother and aunt especially, who have known her their whole lives, were raised by her...watched her growing older, and then weaker. i cant imagine.

yeah i know. i saw my uncle break down today for the first time ever. it wasnt a pretty thing tonight. hopefully i get to see her again before its too late though

well, i saw her yesterday. the nurse said gma was cracking jokes with her lol. she washed & braided her hair for her and they were talking. then we came in and said hi. the nurse woke her up cause she dozed off again. she said "my grandkids are here"   and we got her talking for a little bit.

she is on oxygen for comfort. her levels were 96 but they said she's more verbal and alert when she's on oxygen. um....she was & still is stable. thats all i know for now. she did ask if she will see Bill soon, that kinda broke my heart a little bit more.

but, when grandpa died, they took some of the $$ and paid for gma's funeral and all that. so everything is taken care of financially. one less thing we need to worry about.

but, she's hanging in there for now

Sorry for what your are going through i work hospice and it could be days hours or weeks it depends on her will to live or dis she needs to be told its ok to go praying for a peaceful passing for her

wow, im so glad she is feeling better, this sounds much like a more pleasant way to pass. she sounds like she is at terms with what is happening too. im just glad she is more comforable.

they pulled her feeding tube tuesday night(i think, my days are mixed up) and she's only had 1 "bad" day since. but she is stable still, resting comfortably. when i saw her yesterday, i was telling her "i'm sorry you're going through this, but its ok. we will be ok. when you're ready to go, dont worry. we all love you" after i said that she mumbled "i love you"

omfg that was emotional..but mom said she called the home an hour ago and she's still stable & comfy

I can tell you love her greatly, she's blessed to have you. I'm glad you've been able to see her, I hope she continues to be comfortable.

omg this is so heartbreaking, and heart warming at the same time.
ou must be glad about taking the tube out, going from curled up in a ball to being completely coherent and responsive.
Im glad you are able to say good buy, im sure it will mean a lot to you

went to see her today. the hospice nurse said she has been unresponsive to everybody for the past 18 hours. i started talking to her, she grinned and mumbled "where am i" and that was it. the nurse was impressed though. nurse said she is starting to get dry skin so she is dehydrating, and her BP, heart rate and respiratory rates are all climbing. so.... i guess its starting???

& now today her breathing is shallow. she is unresponsive to everybody/thing. she usually moans when they take her vitals and reposition her, but she didnt today. i told the nurse that when i rub her arm or stroke her hair back, she starts to wake up. the nurse did it & nothing happened. i really hope i can get to her today but i doubt i can. too much going on
