HS with 2 kids

posted 24th Jul '12
So I have 2 more classes to finish before I graduate from high school in December. I am doing it all online since I have a 22 month old and am due with my second at the end of August and we can't afford child care. I need to graduate by December. I am so sick of putting it off every single time. Hopefully it will be easy, but for those of you who go to school and have two or more children, how did you balance your time evenly? I've been able to manage it pretty well with DS, but with DD coming I'm expecting it to be quite a bit harder especially if she is colicky.

I think if you want it, you will find a way to make it happen. Sure, it may be hard, but you have to think of the benefits in the long run.
I work full time, go to college full time, and maintain a 3.8 gpa if not higher.
You can do it.
In fact, I was in the middle of a semester when I had my second child, and did homework the night I had him lol

I'm going to see if my SIL will let me borrow her lap top so I can do some school while I'm in labor and after I've had her since she is due 2 weeks after my classes start. Hehe. I remember being so bored when I was in labor with my first so I figured why not take some school with me?

I really want this, I'm just really concerned that I'll let it slip away again.

If you really want it, then push yourself through the hard times. Two more classes is NOTHING. You are at the end, push through it. You can do it.

Thank you.   I'm going to push myself as hard as I can.

2 classes to go! Almost there!
I don't have a child yet but i just finished my grade 12 in June, working through correspondence. I can't imagine how busy you are doing it with a 22 month old! High school is a pain in the arse. It's easy, just very time consuming.
I don't know how online classes work but with correspondence you work at your own pace with the books. There were a few classes that only took me a week to complete. Maybe that would be quicker for you?

What is that? Do you have a link or something to a program for it? That would be really awesome! Online is pretty easy, but the math class confuses the hell out of me the notes for one assignment will be in a completely different lesson plan which is what I am struggling with.

If you can't afford daycare? Who's going to watch your kids while you're at school?

However, I was not in your situation but a good friend of mine was, she had two kids and was pregnant.   Does your school offer online courses? If so, those were very helpful to her, also do they offer night school? Can you take courses at your community college that give you the credits that you need? I'm pretty sure you can do it you only have two classes to go, the friend that I'm talking about was barely a freshman with 29 credits to earn.

I am doing them online. Thankfully they offer both day, night, and online classes. I'll be breastfeeding so until I've got that down with DD I'll be doing them online. My DH will watch them nights if I decide to switch to campus. I just need 1.5 credits and I'm done. I would have finished after I had my son if I would have gone back but I put school on hold because to me atm it wasn't important. I was still in that "I don't need this" mentality when it came to schooling. Once I got out in the real world I realized just how important it was to complete my schooling so I've been going back but usually once it got too hard I'd give up and quit. This time I can't. I have two kids I need to support and lately no one will hire if you don't have an education.

Correspondence is when you work with lesson books that have the material and assignments in the book. Maybe it's a Canadian thing? lol.
I wasn't a fan of math so i took essentials, which was super easy and just common sense like taxes and percentages etc.
Also, in Canada if you are attending school and your income is below the poverty line ($17,000 i think), the government covers your daycare. But maybe that's another Canadian thing.
