His name is NOT HARRY! It's Harrison.

Why do people insist on trying to shorten your babies name?? If I wanted to call him Harry, I would name him Harry. I personally hate that name. But I LOVE Harrison. That's what we're naming him and that's what we're calling him. I'm so tired of people telling me that they are going to call him Harry. Sorry, but he's my child and if you won't call him by his name, don't even bother coming around.  

Sorry for the vent, I'm just pissed off about it.

I dont blame you. Im pissed because when I tell people Im naming my son Trace, they say its a "hick" name, or its "fuckin hilarious". GRRRR

I am totally with you on this. We are naming our son Garrett and we are already having ppl say they are going to call him Gary. Umm like hell they are!! His name is Garrett, and it wont kill you to say a few extra letters!!

Yeah I have the same problem. We are naming our son Alexander and we intend to call him Alexander or Xander and people are constantly calling him Alex already!! I don't like the name Alex.. call him by his full name or our nic name!! Ugh!! It seems like we're just gonna have to correct people until they are old enough to do it for us ladies!

Yeah, we're naming our son Charlie, and everyone wants to call him "Charles" like "Charles in Charge of our days, and our nights...etc" or else "Chuck" or "Chuckie". Grrrrr. His name is CHARLIE!

I'll agree. We decided on Warren Wade and everyone asks what we're going to call him. Duh, how about Warren????

I guess this is just prep for when they go to school and kids come up with their own nick names, and those damn things stick like glue.

I had the same prob with the name vincent, i wanted to call him vincent or vince but my inlaws would not stop calling him vinny. I hate that name it sounds like a mob guy  . I ended up changing it all together because i was tired of it.

I know how you feel, we're naming our daughter Gabriella and I hate when I hear people refer to her as Gabby, and she's not even born yet! lol I always refer to her as Gabriella, hoping they'll get the clue, but nope. and it's so annoying when the MIL refers to her as if she is already born and calls her things like "the gabster" ugh I want to smack her!

you cant tell people what to call your son the best thing to do is just ignore it and and go along like you dont care... My daughter is Molly and she is called Mol-MOL and Jett is known as Jetty... I dont have aproblem with it and knew that their names would get shortened so we intentionally look for names that have great sounding nicknames.... Like we really really love the name Lucas for a boy but i cant stand the name Luke so we scrapped it.... nicknames are huge in Australia I dont think anyone goes by their actual name here...My sister is Carrie and we all call her Aunty Spazzy (the movie the kid) she loves it and others look at us funny whenever we say it in public LOL.... goodluck though Mumma and I hope you get what you want but dont worry to much if they call him Harry it could be worse I got a lot of Dick this Dick that because of my last name...    .....LOL

Honestly, I don't get it. Part of choosing a name is thinking of nicknames or shortened versions that they may be called. If you don't like Harry, then Harrison probably isn't a good choice. JMO.
