Too much weight???

posted 23rd Jul '12
I am 17w 1d and I was just curious at how much weight other mothers gained by this time. I have gained 9 lbs total and the doc said that was too much. I still wear my same clothes and barley have a belly at all. Most ppl dont even think I look pregnant. I look the same to me. Have I gained too much for how far a long I am??

I'm almost 20 weeks and haven't gained anything. But, with my first pregnancy, I gained a lot so I'm being extra careful this time.

I lost 11 lbs the first trimester, and I'm still 2 lbs below my prepregnancy weight. I am 20 weeks now. Everyone is different though, with my first pregnancy, I didn't gain much until the end when they put me on bedrest, and then I blew up like a balloon.

i always lost 20+ lbs in the beginning never started gaining til part way through my 2nd trimester, but i think you'll be fine as long as you don't keep on the path of gaining a ton of weight quickly ... my sister and cousin gained weight quickly in the beginning but it evened out because they had a period where they didn't gain any. i think you will be fine.. just try not to eat a lot of junk

i am 25 weeks and gained 22 pounds and this is after losing 10 in the first tri. everyone is diffrent. and it really depends on if you were at a healthy weight before you got prego. if you were underweight it's ok.

You could just be gaining weight quickly.

I gained most of my weight after like... 20 weeks. I gained a total of 30 pounds.

Just be cautious about what you eat. My first pregnancy I used as an excuse to eat whatever I wanted, whenever I wanted it. I gained a lot, and it sucked.

STOP! You can't go by other peoples weight gain!! You are gonna gain what you are gonna gain. Some people lose weight some people gain weight. You also have to take into account how much people weigh when they get pregnant. Over weight people should not gain as much as a thin person. I gained 9 pounds in my 1st trimester!!! I gained 40 total. I was fit and thin to begin with... worked out my entire pregnancy and by no means did I over eat and I still gained beyond what is recommended. Just try to enjoy your pregnancy as much as you can and as hard as it is... don't fret on weight. It will come off.... I promise!
