Question & update.

Well im going to the doctor next week and my fiance's mom wants us to get married , like now. Now that she knows about the baby. She was looking up online about going to the doctors and they sign something for you to get married(while under 18 )? without your parents permission because you are pregnant. Can you do that??

I wouldnt get married just because you're pregnant. I have a friend who did that and she is miserable with her husband. I would wait til you're older. But thats just my opinion

A doctor doesn't have the authority to allow you to get married. Also I would suggest not getting married right away because his mom wants you to.

DON'T do IT!! Only do it when you are ready, Don't let his mother guilt you into it!! And no a dr. doesn't have anything to do with it, your parent has to give permission, and hopefully they won't!!! (since you don't seem to be ready) BTW, I know this sounds a little morbid, BUT I would also wait till your at least 3-4 months, just in case of any issue with baby, cause if you do it now and something happens you ARE STILL married!! Don't let anyone force you into marriage, they rarely work when you are forced or guilted into it, believe me I know!!

Omgoodness, im not getting married to him because of the baby. We have been engaged since November of last year. We are planning on getting married after I turn 18. I have been with him for almost 2 years.

LOL, a doctor can write you some excuses, but not one to get married under 18...

I know that. His mom was saying that you can do that and I was asking everyone on here if it was true cause i dont believe half the shit she says!

And don't get married until you are ready which could be now or when you're 30...just take it as it comes!

Well i just found this: in Maryland
however, you should
also know that the Maryland Code provides that she could marry the
father without your consent by virtue of the fact she is pregnant.

"§ 2-301. Marriage of individual 16 or 17 years old;
marriage of individual under the age of 16 years.

(a) Marriage of individual 16 or 17 years old.- An
individual 16 or 17 years old may not marry unless:

(1) the individual has the consent of a parent or
guardian and the parent or guardian swears that the
individual is at least 16 years old; or

(2) if the individual does not have the consent of
a parent or guardian, either party to be married
gives the clerk a certificate from a licensed
physician stating that the physician has examined
the woman to be married and has found that she is
pregnant or has given birth to a child."

My friend was 17 and got married. Both of her parents had to sign a form stating that she was allowed to get married. Im pretty sure thats how it works, even through in diff states there are diff laws. If you want to get married i would wait untill i was 18. You wont have to go through all that bs.

That is dumb that a doctor says you can get married just because your pregnant! I work with a lot of docs, and they should NOT be able to make a decsion like that!

I know but I found that and I didnt believe it. I want to know why a doctor can do that.

Just becuase your FI mom and your Dr. says it's ok, dosen't mean that you have to get married now. You are so young! Why not take your time, enjoy your pregnancy, and get married later? Your post makes it sound as though you are feeling rushed into this, getting married is a huge decision, make sure you take time making it.

Yes, Maryland is the ONLY state where that is true.

We arent going to get married so early we are waiting until July.
