Working parents/sick babies...

How often do you call off work or leave early with a sick child?

I havent worked for over 2 years, however I am interviewing now and LO has only been sick 2 times in her 21 months of life...so I think I have been fortunate so far. So my question is to working parents...how does your job feel when you call out or have to leave for your sick child? Do you do it often? I am so nervous that I will start my career and then get fired if I have to leave a lot. I dont have anyone to help me with picking her up..etc..I dont anticipate her getting sick a lot...but Im just saying what if...

Explain what you do in those situations...do u just tell your job you have to leave and basically not care either way because its your kid....? I have no clue because this is my first child and my first job with a child..lol.

Depends. It's happened where I had to call out 3 times in one month, and then never again for a full year... It's always different. I would say once every few months.

LO hasn't been sick very much either, i can count about 5x that she has been sick and she is almost 3, and the days that she has been sick this year is 3, (just an upset stomach and puking) which all seem to be when i have off of work. Otherwise i have only called in once, because of LO being sick. I am our only income, so if i want the bills paid i have to count on someone else to care for LO when she is ill.

Well... If she will be going to daycare chances r they will get sick more often.

I have only had to call in once since i have been at my job7 months. They said ok, hope she feels better. And that was it.
