deployment

Ladies I am in need of some advice. My husband just left for a long deployment and I have no idea when he is to return and I am 25 weeks. I fear he wont be back in time to see his child born. This is our first one and I have a feeling I will go into labor somewhere around 36-40 weeks, and that isn't very far off. Any advice?

Just know you're not alone! I had our first when dh was deployed, he met her when she was 5 months. Do you have family who's able to come help you close to your due date?

None at all, they live out of state..

Hubby was gone for ours, we scheduled his r&r as close to our due date as possible and induced when he got.here so he wouldn't miss it.

Mine did as well. Are you involved in a local church, or have military wives who are friends? I'd start to get connected with people. You're going to need some kind of support. But many women have babies when their husbands are deployed, unfortunately, it's just kind of the way it goes. Good luck.

no I'm not involved in a church but I have one military wife that I am acquainted with but I'm super shy and don't really like going out and talking to a whole bunch of ppl. I told him I would try my best to hold off till he got here but when she decides to come I guess there is no stopping her.

I really believe you'll need a support system. I mean, even a ride to/from the hospital. I would get out of your comfort zone, and start meeting people. I'd ask family if there's any way they can come stay with you for a week after the baby is born...or something.

Mine was deployed for our first born, he didn't come home until she was four months old. I was able to have my mom with me, but had I not had her, I was going to look into a doula. There are ways you can get a doula for free since your husband is deployed.
I also got a note from my dr saying I could connect with my husband online for the birth. Red cross contacted him within five hours, just in time for him to get on skype and see our daughter being born.

Wow.. I have thought about that. I just didnt know when he was coming home so I didnt want to rush things.. But thank you. I am hoping he can make it home when she is born but I am not getting my hopes up.   thank you though.

me and my husband are on a tin island called guam and i was worried that he would have to go to the philipines for our little boys birth but he will get to stay behind. and thank god cause i have no family within 8000 miles and the plane tickets are 1500 dollars! it sucks because if anything happens i have to fly to okinowa japan for any risks. hopefully everything works out for yall!

Thank you. I actually know someone who is stationed out in Guam and he loves it I'm so glad he gets to be there for you I just found out that I might get to see my husband when our little girl is born but not getting

awe thank you! i have to say my time out on guam has not been the best. i think this is more of a place for single people. but things arent looking so great right now. they are going to the philipines soon and im hopeing my husband will get to stay back or i will most likely be having this baby by myself. plane tickets are too expensive for any of my family to come out here.
