Sleeping on tummy??

posted 13th May
This may be a really dumb question and I apologize if it is, but at what age are babies allowed to sleep on their tummy?

dont ever put your baby down on it's stomach to sleep but if they roll over themselves in there sleep and they are sleep with there head to the side then it's fine... that is what my doctor told me.  i put my daughter down on her back but every morning she is on her belly.

Cassie has been sleeping on her tummy since she was 2 months - but she was rolling over on her own.

my preemie born at 34 weeks can roll and she seems to land on her tummy, she loves it and she just turned 2 Months. Just make sure that there face is to the side and never leave him/her alone because they can suffer cate if they lift there head and have it faced down twareds the bed. I thinkd thats this posision can increase SIDS.

Yea I knew the SIDS thing, but Kenzie seems to like to be on her tummy on my chest and she folds her arms and lays her head on her arm but I was just wondering thanks though

I'm not sure how much I believe the SIDs rumor. I think there are risks with either position that you have to face, but every friend I have was raised sleeping on their belly as an infant. That used to be the way to prevent SIDs before, apparently. Just pay close attention either way, and you should be fine. My son rolls over onto his stomach, or just takes the occasional belly nap from time to time.
