Baby daddy...ugh.

posted 22nd Jul '12
so my daughters dad and I broke up when she was 3 months old, shes two now. I broke up with him because he was bad into drugs, and he lost custody of her, and for the last 8 months he has been clean & taking parenting classes, which he finished two weeks ago, so now he is taking me to court to get custody back...should I fight it, or just agree on a shared custody plan? because i feel like he is trying to be a dad again, but then again I feel like as soon as he gets her back, hes going to turn back into the person he was before....what do you think?

every week at the parenting classes he had to take them, and if he failed one, he had to start the whole thing over again..but he passed them, and then a cps worker will randomly drug test him for the next year just to make sure, and if he ever fails one, he will lose custody again..

Let him, go for shared. Its best for your baby to have a active daddy in her life. If hes going to have random testing for the next year then he might just stay clean. It takes a lot for a junky to come clean, something that means a lot to them. Obv your baby is that thing. Let her enjoy having him, it might be what he needs to keep clean and be the dad she needs!! If he goes back to those ways brign him back to court or call the cops. make it clear in the hearing that if drugs come back into his life that he loses her.

we were talking on the phone yesterday, and i told him, if you mess up one time, your done for good. im tired of giving you a thousand second chances.
& hopefully his daughter means enough to him, to stay clean and be a good dad!

I would at least try to work with him on it first. Then if he messes up again, I wouldnt blame you for trying to get full custody back.
