Waking baby up to eat

posted 13th May
Did you wake your baby up to eat every three hours or did you let them sleep? I honestly had not heard about this until recently. With my son I let him sleep and he would wake up whenever he was hungry, I am doing the same with my daughter. Just curious about everyone else.

unless it is medically necessary for jaundice or improper weight gain...

My doctor told me to not let her sleep during the night past 4 hours and to wake her up to feed so I did it for a couple of days and realized it was more stressful on both of us because she wouldn't wake up and if she did she would get soooo mad and then scream forever and wouldn't eat. So I decided to let her wake up when she wanted to. It varied depending on her growing but she let me know so I followed her.

I had to wake McKenzie up due to jaundice. Even now I still wake her up every three hours and when I do she does end up eating a few ounces. Waking her up was the hardest part my pediatrician told me to thump the bottom of her foot because she would sleep extremely deep.

In my breast feeding class the lady told me to wake them up every couple hours to feed because if they wake up screaming then its harder to get them to feed.

FUCCKKKK that! I will wake her up every few hours durning the day but she can sleep all she wants at night

I'm breastfeeding so I will primarily be doing the feeding and I'm gonna let that little girl sleep so I can sleep. If she's anything like me, when she's hungry... she'll let me know!

wake up screaming? they only get to screaming if you don't hear them making noises for a few minutes then they get pissed lol.

Nope, I let her cue me when she was hungry. For the first month, she was on a self-imposed strict eating schedule, but now that she's older (3 months), she's sleeping through the night, and she has been for about a month or so now.

As long as you have learned her cries (you know, the difference between the "hold me" cry and the "feed me" cry), you'll be fine.

I woke James up for the first month. He was really tiny and my dr told me to, otherwise I wouldn't have.

Ive heard that waking them up creates bad sleeping habits...and that if they are hungry they will wake you up. Unfortunately my son woke me up every hour to two hours so i didnt have to worry about that!
