Child Support in Florida
posted 21st Jul '12
I filed for child support back on February 13th- filled out all the paperwork at the CS office, etc. They told me they had to wait until DCF sends them my case and then they would move forward with contacting BD, etc. It's now July, and STILL nothing has been set in motion. When I called the CS office, they said they can't tell me anything until DCF sends them my case. I don't GET IT! Is it really normal for it to take so long? I feel like someone dropped the ball or something fell through the cracks.

Ok, well that makes me feel a little better. It already took me 2 tries (and 2 days off work) to go down to the office to do the paperwork. I'm just worried that something went wrong and I need to go back. But the systems SUCKS here, so it's not like anyone would tell me if something had to be re-done. They told me the whole process could take up to one year, but I thought that was because they had to get ahold of BD to establish paternity, etc. Nothing has even been STARTED on my case yet. And I'm not sure why they have to wait for DCF to "send my case over."

Because they need to see what you are getting from DCF. I know it is stupid. Have you called, or gone down to DCF? Also, keep calling child support. Stay on there ass
