when did other mum's lett their daughter

posted 21st Jul '12
G'day all
My daughter is about to turn 12 and is becoming self conscious about her eyebrows , when did other mum's allow their daughters to have their eyebrows waxed ?
My mother reckons she is too young , but I resorted to shaving mine as a teen and made a real mess of my face . I just don't want her to grow up too quick .

Depends wether her eyebrows need to be done. I think it's a body issue not an age issue. I'm 21 and have only starting waxing my eyebrows in the last 3 months, they've never needed anything done to them before now. My sister on the other hand started at 11 because hers were very thick and needed done.

being half Sri Lankan & Aussie
she has got wild brows , but so do others her age .
I worry it's just the start .. being the hair and legs ect ..... piercings
Maybe i'm scared my baby is growing up
I also don't want her to be sad about her looks she is very pretty and already so tall and developed for her age , I don't want to be accused of being a mother that is allowing her to grow up too fast .

My daughter has thick eyebrows she got from her dad. She started becoming self conscious about them around 7 years old so I started tweezing them then. I'm a cosmetologist and have worked in salons and people bring their kids in at all different ages. I would say 12 is definitely old enough.

awesome that's an idea get someone to do with tweezers
In your Job do you find girls get them "shaped " or just cleaned up to look neat ?

If it's really bothering her, I'd start tweezing them.
Just clean them up, a bit.

12 is deffinatly old enough to start waxing shaving ect... Mist girls are wearing makeup and dressing older at that age be thankful she only wants to wax them or you can get them threaded

I'd understand if she really needed to get her eyebrows waxed, but if this is just because she say other women with 'pretty' eyebrows then I'd first try to explain to her that eyebrows dont make someone beautiful. I've got a lot of self confidence issues and I'd hate for her to start waxing her eyebrows, then start to notice other things she thinks dont look well and try to fix them. :/

Just cleaned up to look neat. And that's what I do with my daughter as well

Sorry it took so long for me to respond!
