No they were never married. He came out when I was 10, so he's been open with being gay since then.

I wouldnt say good for them. If you dont want to see it then dont PAY to go see it. Just by them showing it doesnt mean everyone has to go see it.. Mormons like to think they run this state and their religion should be all high and mighty held on a golden platter. Dont get me wrong my husbands family is all mormon and i love them to death, but i think you should keep your religion to yourself, practice what you want but dont push it on others.

Emmagrace, since you posed the question wondering if we'd abort if we knew our child was going to be gay I'd like to know your response to it? Would you?

Absolutely not. If that were possible I wouldn't test for it personally.

I would also agree that it has something to do with genetics and also environment.... I feel like there is something missing from my answer because it is so generalbut I can't put my finger on it so I'm posting...lol.

Im late in this debate, but this is a very interesting thread you made Sue.

Im not really sure, but I can see both sides of it playing in part I suppose.

i think genetic. How would you have gay people who are brought up in strict religious homes where homosexuality if it had anything to do w/enviroment? you'd think that gay people would only come from homes that were less religous.

i know right?....people just are too judgemental and nosey...i think it is beautiful whenever i see two people who are obviously in love..whether it be 2 men or 2 women or man and woman...i have seen my mom in many relationships and she has been with her girlfriend for almost 5 years and i have never seen her so happy...

exactly....cause my mom will tell you it's not the sex or what goes on in her bedroom, she genuinely loves her gf....and whose business is it anyway, not the governments, the church's, or any other person's, what goes on in someones bedroom?

I should have read through the entire thread before commenting (I know, shame on me...) because this is exactly the thought I was trying to get out lol... how I don't think genetics is the correct word... I believe it has to do with a natural attraction that you are born with... or that you develop as you grow just as who you are.... if that makes sense.... (thanks Mrs. Bodine!)

  Yeah, i couldnt explain it very well either lol.. I know what i mean its just harder to get it in words lol, so the only way i could think to say it was "being born with it"

I agree.. a wonderful movie! I think that's awful that they wouldn't show this movie. Like someone else said, don't go see it if you aren't interested but to ban it... wow. I'm sorry but ignorance breeds ignorance... this movie was extremely honest and I think they did a wonderful job with it and with the message of loveand the struggle. The more it is continued to be pushed off, the more people will continue to be prejudice and judgmental in the long run. I understand people are afraid of what they don't understand... and I'm not bashing anyone here... it's just sad to me that it would be banned. Then again, that's my opinion, and to ban it they had their own!

yep..that is why i am teaching my kids that all people are different...they come in all shapes, sizes, colors...and some boys kiss boys and some girls kiss girls...when they see my mom and her gf..they don't even think anything of it...just like a friend i was talking to..her son was freaking out cause a guy kissed another guy (on the cheek)on t.v...i just couldn't believe he made such a big deal about it....my kids prolly wouldn't have even noticed the difference....IMO..that is how we should teach our kids so that this type of ignorance would dissapear.
