Babys daddy not excited

posted 18th Jul '12
I want my fiance to get more excited about having this baby but he just doesnt seem interested in it at all. Hes already had a son who is 2 but that doesnt mean he shouldnt be excited about our son. What are some ways i can get him more excited about it.

There are no real ways to get him excited. They normally get excited after they are born.

Men generally dont find them exciting until they can walk and talk.

I know how u feel. The father of my daughter doesn't act excited at all. Even when we was together he didn't, he won't even help me decide on a name. We've been broke up a month now and he has only called me once to see how everything was. Good luck to u, hope it gets better.

I felt this was when I became pregnant one day he said something and I went ape smurf on his ass and told him he better get it together and he has lol no I dont suggest you do that. I would just talk to him straight up and let him know how you feel we are having a girl and he is so excited now because he got what he always wanted but definitely talk to him

My SO now is one of those guys that kisses my belly every time I walk by. I am sleeping and he will sing to my belly and rub it.

My ex.. was a jerk. He would say what.. oh man youre pregnant?! Then stuff like wow youre getting fat. In bed the baby would kick and he would say quit poking me.. and I would say the baby is kicking.. he would say ya right then move the sm**rf over. Then when she was born.. he couldnt get enough of her.

Guys have their own way of responding I guess?

The reality is this: Most men don't get excited until AFTER the baby gets here. I spent my entire first pregnancy worried that my husband was disappointed that we were having a girl and all of my fears and frustrations were forgotten the moment I saw him cry after she was born. Guys don't go through the physical and emotional changes we do. We become moms the minute we find out we're pregnant, but they don't really become a dad until they see their little one and hold them. Give him some time, try to find ways to include him like having him help you pick out the homecoming outfit at the store or decorating the nursery...even let him tease you about the names you like that he can't stand, all of these things will help him connect, but I'm sure it won't be in the way you'd like. Just know that he will come around and be excited, but it will likely be when reality is staring up at him from that little warming bed they put baby in after they are born to check their vitals.

its hard when they don't appear excited but its also normal. pregnancy isn't the same for men, obviously. i wouldn't worry unless he refuses to participate in baby discussions about names or whatnot.

This is how my ex was. He was a real jerk.
I got out of a relationship with him after 8 years.... it was horrible. I am glad I got away. There is a huge difference when I actually found a great guy.. cause I hear there isnt too many?!
My SO dont really like alcohol. When we use to go out I would end up drinking his and mine.
I guess I got lucky.. he has kids and is an awesome father. He even goes down the slides and lets his 4 yr old daughter paint his toenails lol. He dont like it and I am mean and take pictures of course.. but he lets her cause he loves her.
