Normal after having membranes stripped?

About every 5 or so minutes I get a really bad cramp like I'm either on my period or need to poo really bad.
I lost more of my mucus plug and had brown discharge with some red blood in it.
This is all normal after having membranes stripped and doesn't necessarily mean labor is coming, right?
And how will I know when the cramping becomes real contractions?

Time your cramping(contractions) if it gets between 3-5 minutes apart call L&D!! Good luck!

I had my membranes stripped and ended up in the hospital that night!! Time your contractions and pain intensity!!

Sounds like the start of labor to me. Time them, if they get to about 3 min apart, go to L&D. Stripping membranes can trigger labor. Not always, but it does happen.

I got that after having mine stripped. I had mine done 3 times and never went into labor as a direct result. What put me into labor was having sex without my husband pulling out. (sorry tmi)

I had horrible cramping all the way down to my knee caps after I had mine stripped...and still didnt induce labor and I had mine done twice. I was told to take some Tylonel and wait. If the pain got worse after taking it, go in to check.

I had mine stripped, and started getting contractions about 8 hours later. If the cramping gets worse and closer together, then its labor.

It sounds like your labor is starting.
I went into labor with my daughter 11 hours after my membranes were stripped and I went into labor with my son 19 hours after my membranes were stripped.

That sounds like contractions to me too. It gets a lot worse from there if it's real labor.

when i was in labor with my second child i woke up at 5 am feeling like i needed to poop pretty bad so i tried. then the feeling went away so i layed back down. 5 mins later same thing happened. this went on for 2 hours and finally went to the hospital and was 5cm dialated!!
