How does this sound to all you teen mommies...

"I love my life, I'm not gonna mess it up with a pregnancy"

That was a line from the stayteen.org commercial i just saw on tv.

How does that make you feel? What do you think about it?

First of all, a stupid 15 second commercial is not going to make teen girls not have sex, and that line is just going to make those teen girls who are expecting or who already have children feel like shit. It might make other teens look at those teen mommies to be/mommies as people who messed up their lives...even if they didn't.

Being unmarried and a little young with my first myself, I understand why they'd want to preach abstinance, but I don't think that's the way to do it. It just pissed me off.

I think anything that might make a teen think twice... or even about the consequences for even a second cant be a bad thing

I wish to help pervent or at least TALK to girls about teen pregnancy and I am a teen mom myself. I love my child yes but its best to wait til you can emotionally and finiancally handle a kid. Those commericals don't make me upset.

Okay wow. That kinda made me mad.. Its like saying that everyone having kids is messing up thier life.. GAAA. That should be taken off the air.. Makes me very mad

nothing says that if you are a teen mom, that you still cant achieve the things you want... but having a baby makes those thing harder to obtain...

if I could do it all over again... I would have waited to have my children... gone to college and had my kids now...when I'm more grown

Yeah, thats how I feel. I am still growing up and now I am taking care of a life that needs me 24 7 and will for the rest of her 18 years of life. It woulda been better if I waited.

Yeah same here.. on the radio the other day they were talkin about teen pregnancy and how its just screwing up the teens life and babys life and things like that and I got soooo pissed off and so did my mom (she was 16 when pregnant with me) and she has a great life and provided me with a great life also so its not always true that our lives are ruined because of a baby... honestly its made me become more focused and responsible and very happy to become a mom  

It pissed me off too. I never went to the site but I was sitting on gaga one day and heard the tv say it so I looked over and it was a commercial...It did this a couple times before I finally just hit rewind and saw what it was...Oh how fun jumping on a damn trampoline. It made me mad because when I first got pregnant I thought I messed up my life but after growing and feeling my daughter in there and seeing her and hearing her heart..I wouldnt change it for the world and in all honesty she probably saved me. I mean if it helps the teens out there TTC that are 15 then so be it but I dont think the 10 sec commercial is going to change their minds..I dont even see the point of the commercial.

Yeah i seen that about 20 mins ago. i kinda got offended, i mean i wish i was a older than had a baby but my life isn't ruined because i had a baby young.

The funny thing is that I feel like that too and I was 2 weeks from 24 when I had my son...no matter how old you are when you have your children, you grow up at least a little with them because priorities and responsibilities totally change. There are tons of things I wish I would have done before having kids, but now I realize it's all possible just different!!

I'm all for abstinance...I never even had sex until it was forced upon me at 18 a month after my high school graduation. I just think that's the wrong way to preach it.

I don't think it was implying that your life is ruined but that your carefree teenage lifestyle would be gone. A lot of the things you enjoyed doing before or wanted to accomplish would, at the very least be much harder to do. The easiest route would be to have safe sex and do your best to prevent pregnancy.
