re: Let the baby cry.

I believe Ferber has been implicated in FTT. I wouldn't recommend that method.

What's FTT??

From my understanding it's not just letting your child cry themselves into oblivion...

I'm not advocating for either side, I'm just trying to give her some information on what she asked about...

I'm sure a lot of people misuse the Ferber Method...And I'm sure when it's misused it can be quite damaging...

My mother let me cry it out as I would *not* sleep otherwise..And I'm quite well adjusted...There's a lot more to these childrens issues than sleep, I'm sure...

Sure, I wasn't trying to insult you. I just don't believe in the Ferber or Ezzo methods at all...I think they set parents up to disconnect emotionally with their children.

No offense taken :-)

IMO nothing should be followed by the book like that...All babies are different...A parent has to know when something's not right for/with their child...

There are so many methods one could get into...I'm going to try the Kate C. method...Which is whatever works for me and my child :-)

Ezzo? I heard it was with their methods in general. Are they very different?

Yeah. Ferber only suggests CIO as sleep training, the other one is much different. But from my experience not only does Ferber work, but it works WELL, but I always strongly suggest that a bedtime routine is well established before trying any kind of sleep trianing method.

My son does this sometimes too.

The only time I let my son cry is when he is tired and is fighting sleep. Pretty much every time within 10 min he goes to sleep.

I stand corrected. I always lumped Ferber and Ezzo together.
