Infants can also die from co-sleeping ya know....

It's up to you, but either way, there are risks. I personally wouldn't recommend co-sleeping, and not just because of SIDS issues. My sisterlet her baby sleep in bed with her for the first few months and nothing happened to her or her baby, so it's probably more up to you and your beliefs.

It is totally up to you. If you are a light sleeper, I think it would be ok. What about a bassinet or one of those sleepers that you can hook to the side of your bed?

I think almost every mommy has that fear in the back of her head something might happen if you leave your baby alone in the crib. It is really your decision and what you are comfortable with. You might want to co-sleep but everyone urges you to put your baby in a crib, so you do, and you might feel really sad about it. Do what is best for you. When the baby comes, you can decide. For me, I have 4 children, I rolled the crib into my room and left it there for about 8 months with each of them. Then I put them in their own rooms. Just make sure you have the bumper going around the crib and no pillows. I don't even put stuffed animals at night, in fear of what might happen. I do put a mirror, aquarium toy or some other toy that attaches to the crib with the baby. Congrats!

I loved co-sleeping. We dont do it much anymore because Kailyn is crawling and I dont want to risk her crawling off the bed. But we exclusively co-slept until she was 5 months old - then we started weening her into the bassinet and by 6 months she was in the bassinet exclusively.

People who arent educated on the issue of cosleeping will tell you how unsafe it is. Anything is unsafe if you enter into it blindly. There are many "rules" to follow if you are cosleeping - and some things that indicate you shouldnt cosleep (like if you smoke or are under the influence of drugs/alcohol). There are so many benefits to cosleeping that I would definitely plan on doing it again if/when I become pregnant again.

Crib sleeping is the same way - it can be dangerous if you dont know the "rules" but if you follow all the rules/recommendations it can also be safe.

Ultimately the decision is up to you and anyone else you may share a bed with.

i am all for co-sleepin when done right. i co-slept w/my son and i currently co sleep w/my daughter.

for the mom who said "babies can die from co-sleeping" babies die in cribs too!
if done properly co-sleeping isn't any more dangerous. it's the idiot that rolls on their babies ect that make it dangerous.
i'd personally rather have my child close to me where i can easily tend to her needs. Also, i have to work fulltime and it gives us extra cuddle time.

i have a two week old and i let her sleep in the bed with me. We got this little snuggle nest thing

and it makes me feel safe having her in the bed with us. and i also used it with my first one until she started moving around and then put her in the bassinet next to the bed until she was about 5 months... i worried way to much and thought that she would spit up and not be able to breathe...
But if you decide to have the lil one sleep in the bed get one cause then the worry of rolling over on them is completely gone   and it also comes with a lil night light so you can look over and make sure they are ok

well, u can always do a co-sleeper. it's pretty much a crib that can be pulled up next to your bed so it's just like sleeping next to ur baby without co-bedding (sharing the bed with the baby) from our basic infant care class they strongly adviced against co-bedding because of danger of accidental injury that can happen to the baby (ie rolling over them or something)

we're n ot doing th crib thing for the first few months but we're gonna use this instead

so he'll be in the room with us, next to me but without having to share the bed. He'll have his own lil space.

We co-sleptwith our first two andnever had any trouble. It did make me slightly nervous in the beginning when they were tiny, but as they grew I was more comfortable. The not-so-fun part was that I chose to sleep without a pillow or any blankets up above my waist when they were small...just to make sure they wereassafe as possible and there was no chance of them being trapped or smothered by bedding.

We just had #3 and are using this ingeniousdevice...I LOVE it, baby loves it and I get to have a blanket and a pillow now! http://www.target.com/First-Years-Close-Secure-Sleeper/dp/B00012CHFI/sr=1-1/qid=1210706804/ref=sr_1_1/601-9634153-3117708?ie=UTF8&index=target&field-browse=1038590&rh=k%3Aclose%20and%20secure&page=1

It sits on our bed, right between our pillows with a "flap" that goes down under the mattress to keep it stable and in place. He's a month old now and we are all sleeping wonderfully at night!
