Baby food

posted 12th May
Okay so my son is going to be 5 months in 5 days, at 4 months his pediatrician said that I can start giving him solids, Ive only been giving him rice cereal, So today I wanna try to give him carrot baby food, Is this a good idea? if so, How much should I give him, do I add water to it? and how long do i warm it up for??

It's fine.
Give him as much as he wants.
No water.
10 seconds.

I dont warm my sons food and i was told it was better to start with fruits its easier on there tummy. And you dont have to add water if you are buying the kind from the store cause it already has water in it. And i give my son 1 jar a feeding and he takes a 5-6 oz bottle with it.

yellow foods first
carrots are just fine! Elliots first food was carrots mixed in rice cereal.
10 seconds should be fine.

I would suggest giving veggies first. If you give them the sweeter stuff first, they may not want to try the veggies. Which is the waymy daughter was. I screwed up and gave her fruits first and she would never eat veggies. I don't warm Joshuas up either.

My pedi reccomended starting veggies first because they may not want to try them after tasting fruits. Just get stage 1 jars, when Gabe started he was eating a whole stage 1 jar. If your son doesnt eat the whole thing you can store it in the fridge for 3 days. I never heated Gabe's food. Its probably better not to start doing that in case you have to feed your son when your out sometime and he wont eat it because he is so used to warm! Carrots sound good, they were Gabes first food! Also, no water, you can add a little rice cereal if you want to if you think it is too runny.

Oh yeah I forgot that part! So if you feed him carrots tonight do it for 2 more nights after just to make sure he isnt allergic.
