Those bottles..

posted 12th May
Alright, this "BPA free" bottle thing is just about on my last reserved nerve here. I want some honest opinions on these things. Do you really honestly think these bottles are going to severly harm our children? Aren't they using the SAME plastic that they used in the past? I could be wrong. Hence a D&D.

My opinion on it all? I think it's starting to get a little out of hand.

I used glass bottles with my daughter because they were easier to sterilize and clean. Plus, if one slipped down into the bottom of my dishwasher, it wouldn't melt and make a disgusting mess. I went to Babies R Us, because that's the only place I could find them other than online, and they were all out because of this BPA scare. What?

So, opinions? Is this whole BPA free bottle thing going just a little overboard? Are we all going to die a few hours early because our parents used some dangerous plastic bottles to feed us?

Yes, you are going to die 10 mins and 47 sec early cause your parents didn't love you enough to use glass/bpa freebottles.. Sucks to be you..

I'm wondering the same, because if it is the SAME thing that has been used for years, then I don't see too much harm out of it. Everyone I know has used plastic bottles, I didnt even know glass bottles were made! [shows how much i pay attention i guess]

I've read studies that have found mixed effects of bpa. However, it's been used for decades as a plastic softener and this has just become an issue. My question is: what do they replace bpa with in these bpa-free bottles? I imagine a plastic softener will still need to be used and if it's replaced with a new chemical that hasn't been used and tested for decades, who knows what damage it will cause?

I dont worry about the "BPA" issue going on. I figure what I give my son ( or do with him for that matter) cant be any worse than what my mom did with/to me....hehe.

I dont know whether it is true or not. I know there have not been significant tests done to prove the effects, but I personally would rather be safe than sorry. I dont mind paying a few extra dollars for a bpa free bottle just to be safe.

I'm mostly annoyed with it. I mean really. If I'm not mistaken they found the same thing in plastic soda bottles and I don't see us switching back to glass any time soon.

LMAO!! I'm with you on this. If it were really that big of a deal, wouldn't we all be dead already? Everyone I know was raised on bottles with BPA in them. Oh well.

use whatever bottles you want. They only suggest not putting them in the microwave or putting boiling water straight into them which you arent supose to do anyways. Its not like using a BPA free bottle eleminates the BPA. Formula in cans have BPA from the can itself in it. My daughter has behavior problems but its genetic and runs in the family. My son used the exact same bottles (I kept most of them from my daughter) and he does not. Its nto proven either way. Its parents getting scared by some stupid little thing and running to throw every bottle in the trash and bitching at store after store for having a bottle in stock that might have the "7" on the bottom of it.
