Like I said, I would rather be safe than sorry. There is no reason not to do everything you can to make sure your child is safe. Just because there is not good strong conclusive evidence doesnt mean that it should be ignored. We never know 100% what could cause problem with our children. It might just be genetic that I have asthma, or it might be because my mom smoked while she was pregnant. It might just be genetic that my brother has learning disabilites or it might be because my mom smoked during her pregnancy with him too, or it could be because his bottles had bpa. We never know. If there is any chance that something could harm our children I dont see any reason to not avoid it.

They know no one is going to drop dead after having a drink, which is why they're making it a consumer decision, to protect the profits of Sunoco, Dow, and all the other companies that still put that stuff into their products.

Edit: It's not JUST the BPA, but it has been studied to have an effect as a hormone emulator.

The skyrocketing rates of childhood cancers, obesity, ADHD, autism, and the rest of those unfortunate circumstances has a huge combination of factors, some environmental, some cultural - it's up to us to try to make the best environment we possibly can within our means.

We opt for BPA-free bottles b/c they're cheaper than others like VentAire or Avent, etc. And, even if the effects aren't as bad as we are led to believe what harm is there in buying the BPA-free version when it's the same cost or slightly cheaper?

I'm not sure. I was going through posting a lot of bottles that are BPA free on another thread. I know off handonly the Avent Viv System in the Avent line is BPA free. So are the Geber Clear View and Color Tent bottles (the cheap three packs) are also BPA free.

I have some of the bottles below that I used with my son, and when I looked at them they had that number 7 on the bottom of them

But I also have a ton of Dr Browns bottles that I used with him that have nothing on the bottom of them so should I assume they are BPA free or what?

Personally I am not feeding into the whole BPA epidemic, but got interested in knowing how many "tainted" bottles I had in my house.

"Studies have shown the main source of exposure for newborns and infants is from bisphenol A migrating from the lining of cans into liquid infant formula and migrating from the polycarbonate baby bottles into the liquid inside following the addition of boiling water."

"
Advice for Parents and Caregivers
  • If you continue to use polycarbonate baby bottles, it is recommended that parents and caregivers do not put boiling water in them, as very hot water causes bisphenol A to migrate out of the bottle at a much higher rate. If you are unsure as to whether your bottles are polycarbonate, check to see if the bottom of the bottle has the number 7 in the centre of the recycling symbol. Although the number 7 is a broad category, you can only be sure it is polycarbonate if the number 7 also has a PC beside it. If the bottle does not have a recycling symbol, there is no certain means of identifying whether it is made from polycarbonate or not. Water should be boiled and allowed to cool to lukewarm in a non-polycarbonate container before transferring to baby bottles. This advice is consistent with proper instructions for the preparation of infant formula. These bottles can be sterilized according to instructions on infant formula labels and can be cleaned in the dishwasher. They should be left to cool to room temperature before adding the infant formula. Baby bottles should not be heated in the microwave as the liquid may heat unevenly and can cause burns to your infant. Health Canada recommends that breast milk is the best food for optimal growth in newborns and infants. Exclusive breastfeeding is recommended for the first six months of life for healthy term infants with continued breastfeeding for up to two years and beyond. If breastfeeding is not chosen, canned infant formula is still the best choice, as the nutritional benefits far outweigh possible risk. If parents and caregivers are still concerned about using polycarbonate baby bottles, there are a number of alternative options. "

I dont know about the ones without symbols on the bottom. Maybe look up the brand site online and see if you can find something or call the company.
