re: Breast feeding times?

posted 7th Aug '12
I personally wasn't able to breastfeed- I had to take medication...I was made to feel like the worst person on the earth-which is just wrong! I think it's fine to breastfeed but people are over the top with forcing it on people and the pics are out of control..It is the in thing to do is to post pics with your b##bs for the whole world to see!

I agree. I plan to breastfeed for a year.

They're proud of their accomplishment because Breastfeeding is hard at first. If you had an injury so couldn't compete in the Olympics would you be bitching about the medalists posting pictures? I'd hope not. (can you guess what I'm watching right now haha)

When the baby is ready to wean or the mom chooses to stop. I don't plan to breastfeed longer than a year if I can make it that far.

I hope you don't take any pictures of your kid with a bottle.

We have pics of us nursing because 1) it's hard. It's an accomplishment, something to be proud of and share. 2) It's part of our baby's life. You probably have pics of your children with bottles, we don't use bottles, therefore, our pics have boobs in them.

Who knows? I plan on going back to work but even then I don't want to stop nursing completely.
I don't care about what other people do.
And I also don't care if you don't want to see the top half of my boob. Either look away IRL or click off my FB page. It was smurfing hard as hell in the beginning and I'm proud to say my son is EBF.

I don't know if there is a recommended age when to stop--- But I plan to breastfeed my child for up to 6 months. If I can go longer, even better. I was unable to breastfeed with my first, so im very excited about it

Good luck! I was lucky enough to have no problems, and we're still going at 19m. Setting yourself small goals is the best way. And remember, the first 6 weeks are the hardest, but once you get past them it's so much easier! If you have any Qs before or after birth, come to the Breastfeeding sticky thread in the Parents with Infants forum
The WHO recommend 6-12 months exclusively, then to 2 years and beyond (up to mother's discretion) supplemented with a balanced diet of food.
